Hello!

After getting so much information on this site I decides to join the community!

I値l say it once, English is not my main language ans I知 too proud tonuse google translation! So please don稚 mind my french!

I don稚 own a tractor at the monent, but I致e been looking to buy one for the last couple months. I知 having a hard time to figure out the best machine for me, so l値l be making a post to have the community痴 input.

Just sharing a bit of information to start the wheel. Living in western Qu饕ec near the frontier with Ontario. So it can be anywhere from +40 C to - 45C. The property is 420 acres, which have 400 acres of mixted wood (red maple, white birch (a lot), red maple, balsam fir, white spruce and aspen). I知 a professionnal forester looking to have fun on evening and week-ends doing firewood and a bit of sawlogs and veneers.

I know tractors aren稚 skidders, but they are so versatile that I just need one! Did 40 cords of firewood with my ATV, Chainsaw and axe last year. Looking to go bigger this year, around 100 cords sounds like a resonnable target!

Anyway! Thanks for letting me join the community!

What tractor applications do you plan for 20 acres not forested? Is the 20 acres flat or hilly? Dry?

For stability on slopes and stability lifting 1,000 kg + trees with the Loader you need a tractor with at least 66" width and a minimum bare tractor weight of 3,700 pounds. This is a good weight for field work over 20 acres. Consider Three Point Hitch mounted Pallet Forks for moving occasional 1,500 kg trees.

A 5,000 pound bare weight tractor one increment wider than a 3,700 pound bare weight tractor will keep you safer.

If you decide on an open station tractor consider loading the rear tires with liquid.

If you decide on a cab equipped tractor, the cab weight will place ample weight on the rear wheels while slightly raising the tractor center-of-gravity.
