SO, how much fuel do you think a 60hp tractor uses, working hard, rotary cutting (6' Woods Brush Bull) tall thick grass and heavy brush like this, hour after hour,

Well, the numbers are in, and it's ANOTHER reason why I buy and like these AGCO tractors so much,

And the numbers are: I ran at pto speed for 13.6 hours, and burned 11.25 gallons of diesel, so YOU do the math!!

AND, that's a BIG

hmm... I run a Massey 33 hp with 5' brush cutter at just under a gallon an hour. wondering why your 60hp tractor is running about the same fuel consumption... I just hogged our 15acre meadow - it really grew this summer and was tough cutting.. I cut it in 13 hours like you and used about 11 gallons. Why would we be doing the same?

Most of it concerns the load on the engine,
the less engine hp for the same load the more the governor has to open up (throttle)
to maintain the engine speed.
A 30 hp unit running a full 30 hp load is likely to use as much or even more fuel then a 60 hp unit
on that same 30 hp load and just loafing along with the governor just above the no load rpm setting.

My numbers are in too and I did the math, this summer I went through 30 gal in 50 hr, that equals 42 mi/gal, but I not sure if that would be city or highway. I need to do a re-check again this fall to see if I gain hours since thers less humidity, better air should mean better fuel economy.

Your math is interesting, I get 5mi/gal.

I couldn’t believe how little fuel my DT466 bucket truck burns idling. I’ve never done an actual measurement but it’s not much.

I always figured an idling gas pickup engine burned about a gallon. For some reason that seemed to be true no matter how many cylinders, and isn't applicable for todays engines. I believe that your bucket truck is diesel though?

Yes the bucket truck is an I6 diesel.
