Mowing DK53SE Rotary Cutter sizing

I just purchased a Kioti DK53SE. Looking at the owners manual it lists a 65" maximum width rotary cutter for this machine. This seems small for a 53 HP tractor. I pulled an 8Ft Titan with my 2014 DK45hst with no problems. Did Kioti just reduce the capacity of the DK series or is this an error.

I agree with you. It does seem awfully small. I borrow my neighbor's 72" and use it with my 38 hp tractor with no problems.

Remember, these manuals are constrained by the lawyers/management who have to approve them. They have to protect the idiots that don't know how to use them, nor should use them, in the first place.

If you still have your 8' titan, I'd try it on some light material to see how the tractor performs, and then go from there.

I agree. Your tractor will handle a bigger mower. Use the mower manufacturer hp requirements for deciding what will work.

Kioti lists 63" as width of your tractor, so that's why they show 65" as implement limit size. But you know it can definitely pull a larger light duty rotary cutter.

I HACE A 4110--41 HP-- AND PULL A 6 FOOT TOW BEHIND WITH NO PROBLEM.

If you have an 8 foot titan, put it back there and give it a whirl. I think the worst that could happen is you'd have to go slower when hitting heavy stuff.

I think everyone just has to make that call for themselves. What you are cutting makes just as much difference as how wide your cutter is or how much HP your tractor has. I have a 10' brush hog that I pull with A DK45...no doubt Kioti would have a conniption! I have very level smooth land on which I cut hay. When I am not going to make a hay cutting (early spring, late fall) I keep the grass mowed short, never cutting more than 2-3 inches. The tractor handles it very nicely in High range, 2nd gear.

I harbor no dreams that I could tackle waist high Johnson Grass!

I mowed 9 1/2' tall reed canary grass with my B7800 (53" wide) and a 5' RC. Slugs were able to get out of my way! Fortunately I was only doing that once (and now I mostly mow with my NX and a 6' RC, though I'm about to pull the trigger on a 7' flail).
