New garage time!

I'll have to search for it. I haven't been able to find anyone else doing this, have been looking for ideas but haven't been able to find any.

Topzide i'm trying to keep it a bit simpler. The idea is to have a 10k 12v winch mounted at the top, 2 12v deep cycle batteries, and a battery tender on them. They discharge during operation, then recharge when idle.

Wasn't that a farm girl with a horse place? Just bought an old forklift and left it in place? Can't recall all the details. Only problem is having to eat the floorspace where the forklift body resides.

I like the idea of just using the mast with some way to fasten it to the floor safely, then powering the hydraulics with an AC hydro pump.

Just remember that those winches are rated for pulling, not lifting.

I've heard that as well. I'm far from ready for it, i'll do a whole lot more research when it's time.

When that time comes compare winches to hoists. I believe the difference is in how they brake a load. Hoists have brakes that can hold suspended loads and winches don't. Anyhow, that's probably a discussion for another thread or further down your build, and don't want to derail your thread. :thumbsup:

Interesting concept but to bulky for what I want to do. I'm already down on space from my origional plan, don't want to give up more than necessary.

I'm sure I'm missing or forgot something on here, but what is the lift for? How often would it be used?

Due to the amount of space a lift will take up, and the potential for something to go bad with it over the years, why not add another garage door to the second floor and use your skid steer to lift heavy stuff up there? Or buy an old forklift? You already have the driveway, so space isn't an issue. Just cut out your framing and install a header for a 9 foot roll up garage door. 9 foot doors are super cheap to buy at Lowes, and they work great. Or get an all glass garage door and really make it fancy!!!

The lift will to be able to get stuff upstairs rather than having to go up stairs. Eventually down the line it値l be converted to a man cave with loft storage. My house has no basement or attic for storage so I can稚 keep seasonal things anywhere. Or anything I知 just not using for a while. I値l attach it to the house with a breezeway or hallway when I finish rebuilding my 2 car attached garage, then will use the lift to get to the second floor. It値l be fully finished with kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, living room, sort of like part of the house. I can put a ceiling in the rooms and have storage above them. If the kids end up staying home and attending college virtually and need their own space, they can stay there if needed.

It could be a good excuse to buy a telehandler.
