55 going to 76.

Beautiful day up in the mountains yesterday...nice picnic. Stopped at Yoder's Market on the way home and picked up some things, including sweet potato biscuits. My wife wanted to buy a couple of their Amish hickory rockers for our porch, but the manager recommended against using them outdoors, even under roof. We love the one we have now inside, but took his advice. Never sat in a rocker that fits me better than theirs, except one custom handmade rocker in a shop in West Virginia, where they sell one of a kind crafts and furniture made only in WV....problem is that rocker was 10X more expensive...$2,400 but was a masterpiece of woodwork with the most beautiful grained wood. It looked so good in that store that it would have been a crime to take it away. :)

Good morning all

51 now dew point 45 high of 72 and sunny today.
Time to get the gardens cleaned up and ready for next year.
After the rain and wind lots of sticks and leaves in the driveway to add to the never ending brush piles.
Plenty of burning to do this winter.

Enjoy your day everyone

Coffee is done brewing. 42ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 58ー with scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. Up way to early. Got .25" rain yesterday. But did get list completed. Kitchen sink was not draining properly. Cleaned it out. Problem may be in line that goes to septic tank. Works good enough for now. Golf cart in bad need of cleanup. May get to that today. No other plans. Good thing I have furnace guy coming out next week. Furnace fans keep running when no need for it.

Got a 1/2 moon picture from a week ago. But thought this Tufted Titmouse was better.

Drew, you need to be a resident in PA for 30 days to qualify for voting.

Wnsprd, I always like the amish rockers. Are the ones at Cracker Barrel similar?

David, glad dinner went well.

RS, that blower is noisey. Had to turn my computer speakers off.

RNG, stay safe.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Good morning,
the temperature is 48°F and the high will be 50. Wind WNW 4 mph. 70% chance of showers.

The grass needs cutting badly and there are things I need to do that require one of the two vehicles which are not here. I think I will take the truck to the yard early Sunday morning and come home with the Dodge.

Have a safe day all

61 degrees going for a clear and sunny 80 today. Last year when my wife got her eyes checked and new glasses, they told her she had the start of cataracts. Sure enough, this year they said she needed to go to an eye surgeon. I had cataract surgery on both eyes 9 years ago, so I guess it's Margaret's turn. So yesterday, we saw the same doctor who worked on my eyes and heard of something new to us. He said one of her eyes isn't exactly round. I told her I always knew she was a little lopsided. Anyway he said he could do the usual surgery, but was afraid the results might not be satisfactory because of that eye not being exactly round. He said the only option would be a special custom lens that our insurance won't pay for. I asked how much and he said a total of $1,500, so I told him to proceed. So now she has an appointment for later this month in that doctor's office, but with the people who will built that lopsided lens to fit.

Good morning. I was about to move the sheep onto the hay field this morning, however the grass is taking longer to recover than I expected, so I made a last minute decision to put them onto the field at the side of the ditch that was dug out this summer. The ditch is covered in a green blanket of duck weed and some strange brown blobs which, when I got closer, turned out to be - ducks ! They did not trust me at all, by the time I could see that they were mallard the first seven took off like fighter planes scrambling to intercept an unexpected enemy, followed shortly after by another eight that were hidden from view.

No duck pics, just a snap of rainbow that was so bright, you almost needed sun glasses to stare at it.

Wng, what an honest shop manager to persuade you not to buy their rocker ! Maybe you can give them some trade another day.

Drew, there are still people catching eels for pies, but they are nowhere near as plentiful as they were only a few decades ago. As a fisherman, I used to despair each time an eel took the bait, they would wrap around the line in a tangle that would take ages to sort out. I may have told you before about my uncle George, who never minded catching eels, he always had a small sack with him, into which any eel of around a couple of lb would go and be brought home (alive) to eat. They were killed and skinned in their kitchen sink. My aunt was not best pleased when one day an eel dislodged the drain cover and got stuck while attempting to escape.

Good Morning!!!! 83F @ 4:30AM. Mainly sunny. High 98F. Winds light and variable.
AQI 118 and 329, inside and out. Had it down to 12 inside yesterday at bedtime, but it gets worse outside as smoke settles from above, and it leaks into the house unless I run the furnace fan all night.
The satellite says the fire is damping down a bit, and the fire cams seem to confirm that, but when I look outside, the full moon has things lit up almost like daylight and it looks like the inside of a frosted light bulb with all the smoke in the air.
NWS sez there's better than 50% chance of above average precipitation starting next week, and for once, I hope they're right!
Swarms of earthquakes yesterday down by the Salton Sea where I hope to travel next month, and more quakes in the SF Bay Area. Glad I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I hope that West Virginia rocker doesn't turn out to be one of those things you kick yourself for not buying when you had the chance, Bill. It sure sounded nice.

Reads like you came to the right place for help with your gout, Drew. Hope you get is squared away soon.

Maybe she thinks you're trying to butter her up for something, Thomas?

The reverse blow housing doesn't look too difficult, RS, but oh boy, all that linkage to move it!

Will your new top link hold pressure overnight, Ted?

Another inside day yesterday, the air never really cleared up to go out.

Didn't have the fittings or spray nozzles I needed for the roof sprinkler, so got those on order. Also got a notice that the Unifi doorbell cam was back in stock, to ordered one of those, too. Now all I need is a doorbell to go with it, so I'll see what HD has while I'm in town today.

The Sheriff lifted the evacuation orders yesterday afternoon, so I'll be able to come back home after I'm done shopping...

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Yes, very honest and helpful folks at this family run store. They have gotten a good deal of business from us and hopefully more in the future.

Never get tired of looking at rainbows. Glad you have some ducks to help you with that duckweed.

Hey! What's wrong with bent nails? That's what holds the caster wheels on my finish mower.

I'll have to admit I think about that WV chair from time to time, still, after rocking in it 15 years ago...but don't regret keeping that $2,400 in my checking account. It was no doubt a piece of art, but I just had too many kids to send to college. :)

Glad you could return home, and think maybe you aren't perfectly quake proof...

One thing I do have to do today is call Board of Elections in Doylestown PA and find out about voting. My absentee ballot finally came in down here, which means,
I believe, I can vote legally in NC until the day I leave, next Friday. At issue is can I get registered and vote within three weeks once I move to PA. Just don't know how fast things
can get processed there. My vote means more in PA, a "swing" state vs NC. If the law says I must be a resident of NC on Election Day, then my only choice is to try to fast track
voting registration in PA.

Hey Drew just yesterday I was wondering how you were going to vote. The state has a web site where you can sign up to vote by mail. I think they had the last dates you could do stuff listed there. Good Luck.

thanks Chris. At issue is 30 day residency requirement. While my lease starts today Oct 1, and rent is paid and PECO has power turned on in my name, I'm not going to be there
physically until Oct 10. So...emailed board of elections this morning, explained this all carefully and asked them if I qualified to vote in PA and if I drove to their office in Doylestown could I get this done in time. Will be interesting to see what they say.

have 11am appt with arthritis doc about my swollen toe/foot.

Oh, you're the nice man who brings us donuts?
Yes, ma'am...

Forgot to say Happy October! One of my two favorite months.

Thomas, one of my older trail cams died beyond repair, so I got another...a Browning since I like the quality of your Boo pix, and had pretty good luck with an older model. I placed it out in the front yard for last night as a test...sure enough caught that skunk on it that ran under my shelter the other night....all black except a white spot on its head (target). I took Coco out for a walk at 5am, about 2 hours after the skunk was there, and she definitely smelled where it had been digging.
