That kind of stuff I would never buy new! You can see what you are getting, not like it has an engine or anything. Buy, it new and it's worth about half that when you get it home. Buy it used for half, use it and take care of it for ten years, and sell it for what you paid for it. And have enough money for another toy!

Around me I have a hard time finding used attachments that aren’t mingled Chinese crap that people are asking 80% of new value. The only one so far I bought new was the Box Blade and before I bought new I hunted for 6 weeks to find a good one.

So if I buy it new, I plan to keep it the rest of my life. That’s the theory anyway lol.

It’s like trying to find a used trailer someone took good care of and kept up on the maintenance and is reasonable on price. Lol

You gotta hit the farm auctions John, it's a full day of entertainment, and at the end of the day, even if your empty handed you've only spent $5 for the auction food gas that you're now enjoying for a 2nd time:laughing: .....but now and then you get lucky and find a deal.

Does your 5555 have ssqa? Are you a fan of auctions?
If yes, yes, you may luck out and find a SS tooth bucket and have real teeth that you don't have to mess with for the same money. I like teeth on my buckets, but there are times that a smoth bucket is what your need. A tractor ago I added a SS tooth bar to my JD bucket because of JD's "proprietary" loader mount. It did what I wanted but was a 1/2 hr job to get it off and put tools and the bar away - somewhere. There weren't these piranah type tb's yet and my experience was equipment with traditional replaceable pin on teeth, like on a track loader or excavator so I won't judge that type. They seem to be popular and might just be right for all around chores, for dirt work and grubbing out rocks and roots, give me real teeth!

The Mahindra is SSQA and I go to auctions every now and then. Never came across buckets being auctioned off before but might have been at the wrong auctions lol.

Storage might be an issue with a second designated bucket though. Right now I have everything under a roof.

I have not read all the posts. My two most used attachments are my bush hog and grapple. Next would be bucket, box blade and forks. Seldom used attachments are tiller and PHD.

Re: What attachment to buy next that痴 most beneficial?

That is the other point about used stuff. It's often higher quality than new.

Unfortunately, my (historically) favourite source for used stuff (auctions) has dried up, as auctions have virtually all gone on-line, capturing a huge market and netting almost no deals anymore.

I have spent a lot of time at auctions only to go home empty handed because stuff sells too high for what condition it’s in. Actually only 3 equipment/ farm liquidation auctions out of a few dozen I have been to, I actually bought something. One was a rug, one a few old light duty 12ft farm gate/panels the last was a John Blue G-1000 tractor.

Some of the old stuff is sometimes beefier with a poorer design I find, new stuff is improved but not built as heavy with the exception of EA attachments. I have not been able to find a Box Blade new or used that’s built as strong as my EA Box blade. They braced and reinforced all wear areas while having a design that works very well and is user friendly making adjustments.

So far shopping around, looking at used the landscape rakes also hold true to that. I’m having a hard time finding one rated over 40hp that’s not EA.

If I was in your shoes, Id be looking at rear cast wheel weights as my next attachment. They give extra traction, probably reduce tire wear when using loader and make your tractor safer.

So unfortunately I don稚 have the money for all the attachments I want so I need to sort the most useful, figured I would buy one a year till I have a good line up of attachments.

Tractor: Mahindra 5555 (55hp 8,000lb 4x4)

Attachments: Bush Hog BH17 (7ft rotary cutter), EA 78 extreme duty box blade, 6ft 3pt Ford rear blade (scrape blade), pallet forks (don稚 like design or fork length), and bucket.

Property is 3 acres of cleared land I raise cattle on and feed round bales. I do custom bush hogging, driveway maintenance and chores on family & friends lands. 32 acre hunting property etc.

This year im leaning towards buying a wicked toothbar for the bucket, bucket tamers for snow removal (instead of rear blade) and severe duty 7ft landscape rake (tired of picking up sticks in the pasture and fence line), also picturing rake to replace what I use the scrape blade for.

I don稚 like the design of the pallet forks that came with current tractor I have, I also want longer tines/forks 48? I came really close to selling these and buying a design I like better but instead will prob buy an attachment I could use more.

I will need a post hole digger next spring but will only be digging less than 10 holes so I値l prob rent one.

What痴 your go to attachment? What attachment not on my list you couldn稚 live without? Maybe I値l have more use for it than a rake. Pasture maintenance attachments?

Buy the 7 foot rake and I will trade you for my 84" tooth bar

I thought about adding ballast. Tractor already is 7,999lbs being 55hp. I have a 1025lb rotary cutter or 600lb BB to hang off the back as ballast.

If I get too much heavier I’ll need a serious truck to haul it. I thought about loading the rears up 50% with liquid at one time but idk.

An extra 1000lbs of rear steel would put me at 9000lb plus trailer I’m at 12,300lb with no attachments lol

Stay away from liquid ballast, especially if you were talking about bush hogging new fields. Stick with cast centers.

That thought also crossed my mind. If I did liquid it would be cheap to loose like windshield washer fluid.

I’ll think about cast weights. Not sure where I would buy them, prob have to be new threw the dealer.

My least used implement is the post hole digger. It is not that I don't have a need for one, it is because the soil where I want the holes is always too hard, rocks, DG or whatever and so it just does not work well. There have been times where in the right season and in the right spot it works really well. ... but mostly frustrating to put in on and then be unable to get the holes dug. (usually use a 6" auger").

The most useful (after the essential FEL) is the box blade, the rear blade, the pallet forks and a tooth bar. I have a carry all for the 3ptH but not yet used it - and it did not come with the holes I need to make it work well (lift high enough) so have to get around to drilling new holes. The middle buster is not that useful as cannot go deep enough.

Beyond implements: a canopy, a tilt meter, a stick-on digital clock, a cup holder, a chain holder (doubles as holder for large pruning cutter), a tool box set up somewhere, and holders for long tools (shovels, pole saws. . .).

When you fill tires with fluid and go off YOUR property and onto someone elses property, or public property, ask yourself if itll be ok to lose a tire full of that fluid.
I learned the hard way.
My advice is if youre going into using it to do jobs on other peoples property, go with cast weights. Theres no danger and I think theyre better in every way.
Most dealers sell generic weights. Most wheels have universal wheel weight bolt patterns

You just missed the most recent Ritchie Brothers auction in Columbus, but there will be another in December. They always have lots of ssqa buckets and other cool items.

Except the most important. Cost.
For me, cost IS important, but getting things set up correctly is more important
