That was the goal. With the gate closed I didn稚 want to be able to tell there even was a gate. I知 going to cut the top posts evenly and put solar light caps on them.

That cable isn’t needed with the diagonal brace already there.

I also very seldom use that side of the house. I would have put up a strait fence but I didn't want to lock myself off from that side.

If it was made out of metal, I would agree with you. But since it's made out of wood, and exposed to the elements, the cable is needed.
