looking to extend the cables on the mig side of the welder. what do i need? another 10 feet would be nice, 20 would be grand!

Cables??? You mean the whip and ground lead?

Unfortunately that is not going to happen. The drive system on that welder is pretty maxed out for the short whip it came with.

For that unit you buy a new gun. However, you should get no more than 12 to 13 feet. .023 and .030 wire doesn't feed well beyond that. The drive feeder is fairly good, but you shouldn't put more stress on it than you need for maximum life.

Will the 181 support a push/pull gun?

Not a Push Pull. Just the high speed Pull. No sync. Gun pulls faster than the feed pushes so there's a little spin out on the pull end but it works ok.
