Hurricane Delta; Forecast to become Major, then target LA/MS

Got my house all boarded up. Went to get 20 gallons of gas for my generator, and filled up one of my trucks. It took me about 45 minutes to pump 40 gallons of gas.

Every pump was being used at this truck stop, and the pumps were very slow. I sure hope this thing weakens by the time it gets to me.

Local weather man said to expect gusts of about 100 mph here in my area.

At 100 PM CDT (1800 UTC), the center of Hurricane Delta was located
near latitude 24.4 North, longitude 93.1 West. Delta is moving
toward the northwest near 13 mph (21 km/h), and this motion with a
reduction in forward speed is expected this afternoon. A turn
toward the north is forecast to occur by late tonight, followed by a
north-northeastward motion by Friday afternoon or Friday night. On
the forecast track, the center of Delta will move over the western
Gulf of Mexico this afternoon, over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico
on Friday, and then move inland within the hurricane warning area
Friday afternoon or Friday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher
gusts. Strengthening is forecast, and Delta is expected to become a
major hurricane again by tonight. Some weakening is possible as
Delta approaches the northern Gulf coast on Friday, with rapid
weakening expected after the center moves inland.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from
the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125
miles (205 km).

Just checked the forecast. I'm still in the direct path of Delta. If you look at the line in the center of the "cone", the center of the storm will pass about 30-40 miles west of me, which puts me on the bad side.

No rain and not much wind right now. I expect to loose power around 6 or 7 pm tonight.

I saw a photo of all the blue roofs in LA. as they are still covered with tarps. I hope those blue tarps are hurricane rated.

My Grandsons were "storming" down there cleaning up from the last one. They parked all their trucks and came home yesterday.

I hate when these things come in early evening leaving the residents to endure several hours of darkness before they can even begin to evaluate the effects.

The eye wall is about 40 miles from me now. We still have power, but lights have been flickering. Wind is from the east right now. It's starting to get dark here.

Looks like it is weakening pretty rapidly and I like that. There doesn't seem to be any rain on the south side of the eye, so it's just wind for the rest of the night here.
