The County Road department is working on the road in front of my house. Widening and changing the drainage ditch. At this point they've left me with a problem for getting trucks in for deliveries like LP, gravel and concrete. I have a different driveway for my own access, but the heavier trucks demand waivers before using it, so I want to do something else. Weight isn't a problem for the LP truck, but the tank will be moved in a few months and no longer close enough to the blacktop driveway.

The brown line in the sketch is sort of what I'm left with for right now which is far too steep for a truck bumper to clear. I need something closer to the orange line. Ground is very hard when dry and slippery/mucky when wet... clay and red rock gravel. Once they're done, I'll need to use the BH, FEL and landscape rake to dig out and reshape the slope.

The question is BH placement. If I set up at point A, I'm digging below my COG and I'm not sure how stable I'll be. Point B would be better for that, but I risk being in the road at least with part of the FEL bucket. I can do a bit of an angle/slant at Point B and be clear of the road, but I lose some digging force and stability.

Easier to pull dirt down hill. Put some traffic cones or 5 gal buckets on the road.

Around here, when I've seen the county change the road width or elevation, they also adjust the driveways to fit.

Might be a good time to get a box blade.

For one 30' long job when I may never need it again?

This isn't my normal driveway. It's just a delivery point I'm adding as a result of some other changes.

I didn’t know how long a stretch we were talking, I pictured must longer. I’d would position the machine facing downhill.
