Kubota B7500 Rear Axle right cover replacement

I have a 2002 Kubota B7500 with a rear mount Woods Backhoe.
Love it, best tractor ever.

I need to replace the right rear axle cover. cracked outside bolt holes.

I got the new cover and the Permatex arrives Thursday the garage space is cleaned so this is Saturdays project.

I wanted to ask a few questions:

1. What fluid would you recommend I use to refill the case?
I was thinking of going thick with 85w/140
2. Anyone know how much fluid it takes, cant find it anywhere
3. Anyone know if there is a seal where the Axle it self exits the case? I was told where I got the cover there isn't but I am skeptical. The diagram I have does not show one as well. If there is one I would rather get it now so Saturday I have it to install and now wait a couple days.

The tractor uses trans/hyd fluid...

typing my post made me think ....there is a seal - its on the Axle diagram not on the rear axle case drawing
if people need to know its part # 09500-00014

Also check the manual to see where the differential lock clutch is. On my B7800 it is on the right axle and if you have to remove the axle to fix your problem it may be a problem realigning it.

Your Kubota has a differential lock clutch?

I've never seen or heard of a diff. lock having a clutch, how does that work??

The part that slides on the axle and engages with the cage for the dif. gear housing is called a clutch by Kubota. I have no idea why but discovered that little fact when repairing mine. Doesn't make sense to me either and may be just a glitch in the translation but it's a fact. Look it up at Messick's site.

I'll take your word for it, but that's a new one on me... lol

IF, I walked into my AGCO dealer and told them I needed a "clutch" for the diff lock, I bet they would have a hard time keeping from laughing at me! ha ha ha

When they started importing those yuppie tractors, they came up with all kinds of new names for old products/parts.

While it's not usually the term used, it still makes sense. After all, the diff lock has a dog clutch to engage it, doesn't it?

That is what I would call it and was really surprised when I was ordering parts for my repair job.
