CalFire brought in an additional copter for our local heliport. Local fire orgs have cancelled leave and brought everyone in. They are stationing rigs throughout their responsibility areas for faster response.

I don't think I have ever seen this level of preparedness.

Gonna be a long night for the folks around here as the winds aren't supposed to kick up until midnight.

First for me too... we do have some added measures for Red Flag periods but seeing PGE rigs deployed in several locations at the ready is a first.

Winds here "Have" gusted to 100 mph but once in 20 years or so... the last one hardly left a fence standing and patio furniture never again to be found.

The forecast isn't for 100 but 50 to 60 mph on westward down slopes... so hot dry air at speed is a recipe for problems.

Starting to see more neighbors with Generac Installs... all natural gas powered air cooled unit.

Also... just about every cell tower in the hills has a genset onsite... the small Multiquip trailer mounted units can idle for days on the belly tanks.

Slight breeze at the moment in an otherwise nice day.

A few have been reluctant to set up generators because the weather is so pleasant... well, one thing is certain and that is plenty of advanced notice on this one.

I've got someone coming to stay with mom during the day as I'm sure it will be a long day at work for me with a 4 am clock in.

8:30 on the dot power off... not a breeze at the moment.

Time will tell if the now 70 max predicted mph wind happens overnight... at least plenty of advanced notice...

I will start the "Neighborhood" generator at 3:30 an on my way to work...

On a separate note already two CO alarms from renters moments after power went out... no candles, fire or gas furnace... must be power outage related?

I assume you meant CO (carbon MONOxide) - and that sounds like the low battery alerts started as soon as utility power was cut.

Yes... so much for thumb typing.

At 2:30 am the wind roared in like a freight train... not the worst ever but extremely strong and howling rattling windows and house creaking at peak gusts

Also, hospital lost power for 2.5 hours which was not expected.

I was going to clean leaves from lawn yesterday... glad I waited

The wind was predicted to start here at 2 am but didn't start till a little after 6 am, still only about 10-15 mph. We got 4 phone calls and 4 emails yesterday warning about red flag conditions and possible power shut off. It's supposed to lay down by 5 pm. We'll see.
