West Coast Smoke, UGH!

In my part of the city 36 hours and counting...

Many thought it would be similar to when a car takes out a power pole. A few hours and power restored

Even when the order to restore is given PGE still needs to do visually check all lines which can take a day or two

ATT has service pickups with generators or inverters which I see at nodes everywhere powering Internet... Not needed for old copper and DSL

A few adjustments made... the county morgue was in PSPS zone... someone probably said not a good idea as the street and building is now powered

The rentals on all these Gensets big and small must be costing a small fortune... maybe down the road some deals on used Multiquip?

Learned PGE does not allow the Meter Interlock for backup power... a little pricey but very much foolproof as I see it

Anyone use one?

Snow effect/result?

not expected to end the season, but the calwood and lefthand are pretty much out, and there has been no growth of any fire around here for a few days. they are expecting fire growth by the weekend. lots of progress on lines and containment though. this is helping us out a ton. some spots got up to 2 feet of snow.

a few evac orders have been lifted, but not for my inlaws. i expect they will not lift them for a good while. hopefully by the time my parents have the guest room reserved for thanksgiving. haha.

i am feeding mine to the house side of the main to a disconnect, to the plug. lock on the disconnect. turn main off, turn on disconnect and plug in. you are in business.

if they don't allow interlocks, what do they allow?

Good question... I see ATS automatic transfer switches or extension cords with no switch...

Today a fire in an expensive part of town attributed to unregulated generator... rumor has it long runs of light guage extension cords.
