ads ads and more ads

I haven't had issues with ads here as long as I'm signed in, if not holy cow! Then today I checked in and this huge blue ad came across the bottom of the screen with a square in the middle and a full width on the bottom with a close X in the top right corner of it, if you moused down there the full width part gets taller, accidently clicked on the dang thing trying to close it!

I have no problem with ads at the top and the bottom that stay at the top and bottom of the page so you can scroll away, heck, sometimes I even look at them, but taking over the page so you can't scroll is getting annoying, I need to up my adblock stuff...

I'm having the same problem tonight. It's a couple of political ads and they're getting annoying. As you said when I try to close them they flare up and cover half the page.

Not to be confused with the ads which always accompany the site, I look right over them and understand that somebody has to pay the bills.

Not sure if this is related, or it needs it's own thread, but when I tried to google a Yanmar YM4220, the google entry linking to this site popped up a "You are the 5 billionth search user, you win a prize" scam! Did it twice!

I have seen the "You are the 5 billionth search user, you win a prize" show up, figured it was a scam and closed the tab.

I don't remember if it was related to TBN.

these new ads that scroll up and have a video are very annoying. They take up real estate to the site to read and post...and keep coming back page after page!

I haven't seen them so far tonight. Everything I had been getting was for one wannabe senator in this state, who has been slamming the incumbent since January.
The worst part is that it is working...

It's Adobe's trick to get you to update and not uncheck the box to add some BS you didn't ask for either.

You're usually ok to do the upgrade/reinstall. Just note when they offer you more than just the player. Might be Macaffee or something.

When you 'set up' the install you can uncheck a box to skip the extra bits.

Looking at the screen shot, I don't think it's Adobe at all, but rather somebody's trick to make you THINK it's Adobe.

Can't say as I've ever seen an ad here of any kind though.
