Building Lake Corona

Most people here build with an excavator. That's all that I know about it though, most of what I know about pond building I learned from reading this thread.

Especially near one of the proposed walking trails.

I agree with all others, this has been quite a project. Worthy of the name Lake Corona!!!!!

The over flow is a concept I haven’t wrapped my mind around yet and my degree is in civil engineering. My reaction is it doesn’t work but to many people said it does. The diagram helped but I’m to lazy to go back and really figure it out. Looks like a good setup and easy to install. Thanks for the update and video, the lake looks like it’s going to be really nice.

Ditto on the civil engineering degree!
Ditto on "to lazy to go back and really figure it out".

How much more height are you adding to the dam? As is, the water level will be at the pipe level which is only a foot below the top of the dam in the pictures. That is if I am seeing all of that correctly.

Any plans for a pier?

No plans for a pier. If my wife found out I spent money on a pier I'd likely to be living by the pond.

Dam will be brought up at least another 2-3 foot. This will give me 3-4 feet above the top of the overflow. Started working on building the dam up and out today. I'm cutting some level areas just above the water line and using the dirt from that to finish up the dam. Also shot the final water line today. The main pond basin will be about 9 feet deep with the deepest area closer to the dam at 16-17 feet.

At least you can look back at this year and know you didn't waste your time. Nice project indeed.
