Just remember to spray it the day before trying to break it loose. Helps a bunch.

that looks great. i have a 5' that looks very close to that but can not y id markings. there is a number on the gearbox but i don't know how that helps. same wheel and similar superstructure in the top surface. from looking at your pictures it might be same brand.
also, how in the world does one get the blades off. i tried ir air impact, electric impact and cordless dewalt impact but nothing budged it. heated it with plumbing torch as well.
also i think the comment about blade speed might be relevent to me because it more knocks stuff down than cuts it

Post a pic and and we can probably identify it.

AS to the blades....a GOOD air 1/2" is all I ever needed for routine r&r for sharpening. But cutters that the blades havent been off in awhile...a GOOD 3/4" impact hasnt failed me yet

Good Job, I redid my old FMC sidewinder, added bushog top flexlink cat 2 pins, blades and pins, new clutch plates, fixed rotted deck and corner that broke off works great, easy to find psrts

Torque multiplier is another option, instead of a long bar.

I bought used one from eBay vendor few years ago and it's handy to have if you need to re-torque large bolts to a spec.

I now need a helper as I'm old and fat, who I pay $15@hr, so with all the parts and labor I didn't spend $1000. Where can I get 6 foot hog for that price. Plus I like teaching my helper about tools and I encourage him to bring projects over of his, then we swap labor, so he gets me and the shop for $15@hr.

You all are encouraging me. Need a to fix or replace my bushhog 286. Not real happy with options or price of a new one. Sides are worn bad. 23-25? Years old. Surprised I hadn’t sent it into orbit a few times. Several sets of blades and bolts helps persevere the deck and keeps it cutting well.

I completely rebuilt/reengineered my JD Gyramor 205. New bolts, blades, and a rebuilt gearbox have it purring. With the way covid has closed things down it was time well spent this year.
