I found what looks like a deal on 2- 5 gal jugs of this Royal Purple marine hydraulic oil and can't find anything about using it for tractor systems. I would use it in my B7800 & RTV 900 Kubotas, has anyone had experience with it?

Now there's one I haven't heard before. Boat oil in a tractor. It will be interesting to read the responses. All I have to say is I'm sticking with what I've been using for the last 12+ years. I say this because I just recently drained the trans on my 3910 and found no, none, zero, zilch metal particles in the oil. And this tractor gets run hard and long. It will be a cold day in Y.K.W. before I change without facts. I'll simply say there's much to be said for Tractor Supply hydraulic oil. ;)

I would not put hydraulic oil in a tractor. The wet brakes and clutches (if you have wet clutches) need additives that hydraulic oil does not have. Use premium tractor fluid. It's got the additives.

n After doing more research I don't think this is a good idea. In a lot of areas like Electric wire and some greases marine stuff is superior but the hydraulic oil is not a good idea. I'm just cheap and saw what sounded like a deal, and if I still had a boat it would be but not for a hydrostatic trans.

I think we have a problem with terminology. I use what the tractor manufacturer calls for in the specs. It's used in the transmission, rear gear case and for the hydraulic pump. The rear gear case and hydraulic pump share the same reservoir. All 12 gallons of it. It is PREMIUM TRACTOR FLUID and it is hydraulic oil. It's also transmission oil--An additional three gallons. So when I change fluid, it takes 15 gallons of "Premium Tractor Fluid". It has an ISO-46 rating.

The point is, if the oil meets mfg. specs, use it!
