On my old 1742 and on my current 1755,
Set the parking brake.
Engine running.
Pto lever engaged.
Push the little yellow button on the back of the left rear fender and that rotates your pto shaft for ease of hook up.
Yes it wil spin the pto shaft momentarily, only as long as you hold the button in, it is specifically just for pto shaft alignment, that is why it is OUTSIDE the cab on the fender.

I hold the button until the PTO engages and the it stays on. When I hit the button again the PTO stops spinning. This is how I use my chipper and logging winch without a brick on the seat
