how to free spin PTO 1735M

Can someone tell me how I can "free-spin" the PTO? Almost always have to spin it just a tad to connect the pto shaft on an attachment.

Put the PTO lever to the left of your seat in neutral.

My 1754 is the same on the belly PTO—there seems to be a “locked” position and a “free” position in the shift lever.

I agree with the previous 2 posters. On the 1800M and 2800M the PTO shaft will rotate on its own about 70 degrees to help align the shaft splines.

On my old 1742 and on my current 1755,
Set the parking brake.
Engine running.
Pto lever engaged.
Push the little yellow button on the back of the left rear fender and that rotates your pto shaft for ease of hook up.

This will most definitely turn on the PTO. I don't think he understood the question.

The compact tractors that support a mid PTO for a mower will definitely free spin once you move the PTO lever beside the seat.

Yes it wil spin the pto shaft momentarily, only as long as you hold the button in, it is specifically just for pto shaft alignment, that is why it is OUTSIDE the cab on the fender.

Not the case on my Massey

I hold the button until the PTO engages and the it stays on. When I hit the button again the PTO stops spinning. This is how I use my chipper and logging winch without a brick on the seat
