Looking for good recommendation for physical damage coverage for John Deere tractor. I didn't finance, so I can't get it through John Deere. Appreciate any suggestions. Based in Texas.

When I purchased by 1st Kubota I called my agent who insisted it was automatically covered under my homeowner's policy provided it wasn't used for business, on my property and subject to my deductible.

Check with your Homeowners'. It could be covered under the basic policy, or you may have to add a rider. See if they can add 'farm' coverage or similar.

If you are a USAA member, don't take it off your own property, and don't do commercial work, it would be considered personal property, and depending on your personal property coverage limit, would be covered.

Sentry insurance. They are the carriers for John Deere when you finance. They will sell to non Deere individuals. On a Deere I had valued at $50000 it was $208 per year full coverage. Coverage through my home insurance would have been $475 per year with less coverage. Some say your home owners will cover but you better check. Mine would cover only if it was on the place when damaged occurred. Hauling not covered. Damage other location than residence not covered. Amount covered was not enough without buying expensive rider. I shopped and sentry is the best available.

Mine is covered under a rider on my home owners with State Farm. It was cheaper than Kubota’s insurance.

My homeowners covered mine with the usual conditions (must on property, can't be used for business, etc.) but when I checked further into it I found it wasn't very comprehensive. To add the coverage I really needed it was an extra $500. On rare occasions I transport it from one of my houses to the other and I use it on my ROW at my main house. I had to have my agent dig into it to get an answer.

I did the same checking with USAA, and though USAA is usually very good, I have often received BAD information from them.
The problem with ALL insurance companies is, that you never know how good (or bad) your coverage is until you have a claim.
Many seem to massage coverage language to wiggle their way out of paying claims, or at the very least minimize their payout, at your expense.
