My homeowners covered mine with the usual conditions (must on property, can't be used for business, etc.) but when I checked further into it I found it wasn't very comprehensive. To add the coverage I really needed it was an extra $500. On rare occasions I transport it from one of my houses to the other and I use it on my ROW at my main house. I had to have my agent dig into it to get an answer.

Thank you

Sentry insurance. They are the carriers for John Deere when you finance. They will sell to non Deere individuals. On a Deere I had valued at $50000 it was $208 per year full coverage. Coverage through my home insurance would have been $475 per year with less coverage. Some say your home owners will cover but you better check. Mine would cover only if it was on the place when damaged occurred. Hauling not covered. Damage other location than residence not covered. Amount covered was not enough without buying expensive rider. I shopped and sentry is the best available.

Thank you. I tried to reach Sentry yesterday, but was disconnected. Will try again.

When I purchased by 1st Kubota I called my agent who insisted it was automatically covered under my homeowner's policy provided it wasn't used for business, on my property and subject to my deductible.

thank you

Mine is covered under my homeowner's policy as long as it's on my own property and not under commercial use. It's also covered at a property for which I'm a co-owner 5 miles away, but not while driving or transporting from one property to the other.

Just a note to add to this thread on my experience. When my agent assured me it was covered (on my property, no business, std deductible) I sent him an email confirming our conversation and asking him if I had it right. Should he have been wrong and I had a loss I would have recourse to him. Since my tractor never leaves my property I'm good with the coverage.

Just an update....I have shopped around and found Sentry to be the most affordable, by a fairly wide margin.
To be clear, homeowners doesn't really cover (at least to the extent necessary) because the tractor is stored at the farm (and not at my house, which would be awesome in town).

Thanks for all the advice

As a result of this thread, I called USAA today.
All my personal property, including tractors, and other stuff, is covered by my homeowners replacement value policy, as long as it is on my property, machinery is not financed, and nothing is being used for commercial purposes.
In 1987 I had a $240K fire loss (probably would equate to $480K+ today) with USAA replacement value coverage, and they were great to work with!
I have been a USAA member for 58 years.
