Hardwood floor is ugly, noisy, you see every pet hair and crumb and terrible to lie on.

Add the open concept and now the gymnasium has the vibe of an evacuation centre. lol I like the quiet and privacy that individual rooms afford. And don't like to look at a counter full of dishes and pots and pans while at the dinner table.

Having my work shop one with my living room would be convenient, but would I really want that? I see no difference in concept.

You need to do a better job of maintaining your living area. Then the open concept wouldn't bother you so much. You probably close off rooms in your house from prying eyes? In our house you are just as welcome in the bathroom as you are in the living room. No "dirty laundry" to see here.

As much as I would like to have that '68, I would buy the 2020 instead if I was in the market.

edit After reading your later posts, you were already making the same point. While I still wish that I had grabbed the Willys pickup that my father had bought brand new, any truck on the market now will go farther, ride better, haul more, and last longer than that '62.

That is absolutely true. More than a few of my rooms currently look quite ransacked.

I just like what I like and not what is trending. I like wood grain on furniture and walls and not this stark "WHITE" that seems to be trendy. I don't like replacing quality with junk because it's deemed fashionable.

Me too. It would run circles around the '68 with much more comfort and safety. The '68 was just looking for a place to crash. That particular car has been totaled 3 times. My friend bought it in boxes, completely totaled. It's a "match" car. I haven't bothered to ask him how much he has invested. It's perfect right down to the tires. Has won several nation wide shows. But it's still a 1968 car that rides like crap and just wants to crash with that much power under the hood.

P.S. You could buy the 2020 for a LOT less money!!!!
