In keeping with the thread. It disturbs me greatly that much of our communication goes on in systems controlled by private corporations and owned by billionaires. Isn't that why AT&T was disbanded?

Google didn't work the other night, and I realized I didn't know how to access anything at all on my I-Phone without that working. I mean short of a telephone call or text They say apple knows every ap you have opened and on what device you opened it.

When they invaded Iraq, the first thing the US did was kill the phone system via a back door they had the manufacturer install. If someone wanted to perform a coup in the US, and disabled Google, FB and Twitter, how would anyone communicate or know what's going on? That really worries me.

The same invasion of privacy that you describe is what will save you from the "wolf at the door".

The very next thing we did in Iraq, within minutes, was conduct air strikes on their infastructure and literally put them in the dark. No communications. No lights.

We were rug-less for a period of time during an extensive remodel. Amazed at how more comfortable the house became and how much easier it was to hear the tv, stereo, and wife after the LR and DR rugs were installed.

I HATE the echo echo echo, the cold industrial feeling, and the click-clack footsteps. Get a Roomba, then get a decent carpet shampooer and do it twice a year.
What "FILTH" do you get on carpet that is only on carpet??

Don't you have furniture? My house has wood floors in every room except the kitchen and bathroom (vinyl there), and there's no echo and it doesn't feel the least bit industrial. Sorry about yours.
Carpeting is a PITA to keep clean. If you like it, fine, it's your house but don't tell me what to do in mine.

Not sure about your comment about the cushy work mat in the garage. Are you saying you carpeted it??? That must be a joy to keep clean unless your shop is just for show.

I have tile and hardwood floors and a couple of throw rugs that when they get crappy they get tossed ,We had 3 dogs at one time so lots of fur........

It's also not that we have always had communications as we do now, but that we are so used to it, and it could be removed in the blink of an eye. Either by disaster or intentionally.

If I am cold in my house in the Winter and want to warm up, I would grab a blanket or afghan and lay on the bare floor. Would warm me right up.

Scratches and blemishes on a hard floor are greatly offset by the previous mentioned life forms that are colonizing in your carpet.

In regards to wolf at the door, Yeah, I thought afterwards that might point might be missed. The same privacy invading technology that we all hate is what protects us from those wanting to do us harm. How's that?
