I've had two side by side freezer/fridges quit on me that I was able to repair, one of them twice. It was a fairly cheap repair each time. The most expensive wast about a $100 motherboard. Each time sure beat loading the beasts up and hauling them to a repair shop too!

The most recent time was the evaporator fan.

The freezer alarms are a little spendy but no where near the expense of losing a freezer full of food. I have made it a habit to glance at all the freezer temps as I walk by.

I must have not been looking close enough to what message was prior. Doofy posted the brand he uses. I am ordering 2 today for the 2 freezers and 2 refridgerators. Manual indicates easy enough to set up.

I would definitely use Lithium batteries in the sensors that go in the freezers. They are AA. Normal alkaline batteries do fine though.

There are cheaper freezer alarms but I've always been impressed with Acu-Rite products. I have their Weather Stations.

Yes, the manual says to use Lithium and has a nice little chart on the temperature performance of lithium vs alkaline. Something I did not know. I often form my impression of a product on support and documentation.

We have several motion sensor driveway alerts and several trail cams that we use Lithium batteries in. Makes a big difference in sub-zero temps. I just wish Amazon would start shipping Lithiums again.
