Sell Gas and Buy Battery Chainsaw?

Broke farmer: There was no case for the charger and batteries with this kit, I put the extra batteries in a plastic Harbor Freight ammo box for transport, don't carry the charger afield as there is no place to plug it in. As far as weight goes, it would be hard to use it one handed unless you are a he77 of a lot stronger than I am. I have a Remington electric pole saw and a small Honda generator for limb trimming, getting a little old for ladder work. Love the Makita for my intended uses.

Battery powered saws always seem heavier than comparable gas saws.

I don't know what a "comparable" saw is to be honest. In the gas saw market they fight over ounces but it's all tied to cc's. My 2 smallest saws are a ms200t top handle and a 50cc echo, both seem heavier than the makita to me, but up until 2 years ago my daily saw for everything was my trusty 044! (70cc class saw).

When you get to old to man-handle the polesaw

The neighbor has one of the new battery chain saw. It's a gaudy lime green. Anyhow - he was disposing of a Pine Bark beetle tree the other day. Pine was around 20" on the butt. He got the tree felled and made seven "cut to length" cuts - needed a new battery. So.... battery on charger > get out the gas Stihl.

Gas saw will outwork the electric saw. However I like felling trees with the electric. No noise whe trigger released, driving wedges you can hear any creaks or popping noises coming from the tree hinge line.

Not exactly chain saw,.... But I have a $159 dollar gas leaf blower, IF I sell it I may get $75 for it on local i-net swap site.... Looked at new Stihl battery leaf blower,... Unit is $369 ...THEN I have to buy a battery (#1) that is $189..... Then I have to buy a charger that is $89..... If it takes $649 to replace my $159 blower I think I am going to wait till my gas blower dies beyond repair....

Oh and additional $189 for spare battery (#2) to use as "other" battery (#1) is on charger....

IF same economics apply to a chain saw, it probably not going to happen soon....

Never owned a blower but decided to add one since already buying charger and two batteries with electric saw, pole saw and hedge trimmer...

It's ironic because I use the blower daily this time of year and even take it too work for a quick entry way blow... it's quiet compared to gas and a big plus for neighbors and at the hospital where I work...

Single battery lasts a week if only work and one charge does all around home...

Again... I would not have bought if it meant also having to buy charger and battery...

As is... I like it a lot... AP series.

At the hospital asked everyday by patients, Docs and staff how much and where to buy... Sticker Shock ends that discussion quick... some say the Hospital can afford it and surprised when I say brought it from home.

You are quoting Stihl prices to replace non-Stihl blower. Worst case possible. Extremely good battery blowers can be had from $130 to $300 including battery and charger.
