I致e never really considered using one for anything but storage but would like to see what others have done to costomize their containers.

Nothing. Really in my opinion, the more you do to them, the less they makes sense. Maybe a more convenient main or man door. I took the middle latches off my doors. Serves no purpose if it's not going somewhere and just an extra hassle.

Thought about putting in 12 volt lighting you could plug into whatever vehicle you were at the container with. Pretty dark in the back of a packed forty footer!

Navy has an entire Forward Operations Base made up of customised containers; Galley unit, heads & shower unit, comms unit, command unit, workshop units, etc...

Used it many times for Mine Warfare exercises.

We have two at our remote property. One holds my tractor and some implements. The other one is packed with two ATVs, lawnmower, and golf cart. Both have miscellaneous yard tools, hunting stuff, etc. I have electricity trenched to them and someday soon will add lighting and a couple of outlets. My other plans are to build a roof between the two containers and to add vents. I really like the containers because to date they are varmint proof.

My son lived in containers during two tours in Iraq.

I put an 8'x4' hanging shelf in mine. It is suspended by chain that is attached to the tie-down hooks that are welded along the top of the walls. The shelf pretty much reclaims the wasted space above the Polaris Ranger's front end.

That would work pretty well to have a carport between two containers. One for storage and one for an office living quarters.
