TV shows...the good, bad and the ugly...

Most humans seem to believe in fairy tales of one sort or another. And within their groups, it's a deadly serious matter too.

Watching some reruns of the tonight show with Carson and notice bleeps in the dialog... especially with comedians.

Yeah, but in Carson's era that would have been some sort of obscenity. Today that seems to be about the only thing a comedian can say. Seems like no one can do a routine without a bunch of F-bombs.

I wonder if comdieans started targetting Aliens as the brunt of their jokes, since no one else is PC anymore, if some group would protest that too?

And don't forget, just up the road from you, is Siler City! To say Siler City, you have to put in a bunch of i's, as in Siiiler City. :D

Strange fact, when Francis Bavier( Aunt Bee ) retired from acting, she bought a home in Siler City to live out her days. I think she lived in a petty big house on East Raleigh street.

Ron Howard sure has had an amazing career... so has Tom Hanks for that matter...

Seem to be surrounded by all the nonsense yet avoid it.

No.. the bleeps were added present day... it was Don Rickles and Buddy Hackett and race related... not going to fly in 2020...

...so has Tom Hanks for that matter...

Hanks did a good job playing a character that rode the short bus in Gump...but he failed miserably at playing a Southern man...!

Not one of my favorites but one of the best episodes ever. WKRP in Cincinnati Thanksgiving episode. The one where they threw turkeys out of a helicopter. Less Nessman saying the birds hit the pavement like wet bags of cement and the boss saying “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly”.

Some shows I wish they would show on METV, Combat and Route 66.

I imagine being raised in the SF Bay Area not much intuitive knowledge of the South...

He graduated from Oakland Skyline public high school and on the local Junior College where his diploma is still waiting to be picked up... has been a big supported of the theater program back at his High School

I remember the day he told me he was heading to New York to act in Summer-stock theater... last time I saw him... from what I hear he has done alright.

Tom was always a hard working guy with a presence the captivated the room...

Waited tables at a Amelia's Restaurant in Oakland where my folks would see him...

Another channel similar to MeTV is FeTV for a while they were running episodes of Route 66 on the weekends...

There are reasons of $$$$ why so many shows are continually repeated while many better shows have not been seen since they originally aired. I'd never heard of 'Rescue 8' before this thread but it sounds like something I would have liked to see instead of so many Gunsmokes or Gilligans or Beavers.
