The day the music died.

To make matters worse, Michael Berry just announced that Billy Joe Shaver has died.

NO NO NO

Not Billy Joe

Thx but that just ruined my day.

He wrote a song about his deceased son, Star of my heart. He would do it acapella while the other band members turned their back to the audience. Brings me to tears....like right now!

I love BJS, seen him many times, spoke to him, what a sweet guy. Small in stature but he could turn a phrase

Married the same women 3 times.
,
Probably his most popular song was, I'm Gonna Live Forever........

RIP Billy Joe Shaver!,,

sad now!

I suppose that it'll count as the 'Bond' movies inspired many classic theme tunes.

(also, he was a former Navy Rating. :salute:)
And a body builder. Mr. Universe Competition 1953... 3rd Place.

Just saw this on a Navy Fb Page that I belong to (yes, I don't just hang out on TBN :))

"Apparently a nurse went in to Sir Sean Connery's room on Friday morning. He was shaken but did not stir."

Typical, dark, matelot to matelot humour. Sir Sean would've appreciated it.

Just read that Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep died yesterday at age 75.

I knew Ken. He was the Artist Relations Director at St. Louis Music while I was there. Conversations were always entertaining with someone who lived that life. Good guy.

Other than Chuck Yeager, I'm not aware of any new losses but.......

I heard that Bob Dylan sold his music collection for $300 mil. Nice. His name came up a while back referencing his...unique voice.

Got me thinking about performers who had.....unique voices.

First one that came to mind, Tom Waits! happy birthday Tom, turned 71 yesterday. He's #1 iin my book, nobody even close.

Then I thought of Louis Armstrong, once named America's greatest musician...ever.

And Neil Young?

3 of my favorites,

It wasn't $300 million....

It was "only" $200 million.

Not bad for a lifetime of work. :)
