The true price of factory mounted Tym T474 valve

Good morning,

Surfing on the web I collected a bunch of informations about this factory mounted Tym T474 valve.
First, it is designed by an italian company walvoil
(hope I did not mistake about the nationality of this firm !)
You will see the valve (the SDM 104 model) on their website, including its third function actuator):

Looking at the following two pictures, you will see that the valves are the same :

But, what is much more interesting, is that I have found where these valves are built :

In Bangalore (India) as you can see on this indian customs export form :



The price paid by TYM in 2016 for one unit is : 1600 indian rupies which make .........22 $

If I don't mistake, I read on the forum that the cost for (only !) the third function option, and not the complete valve, is around 1000 $.

Of course, there is the cost of labour, taxes, piping ect ...but ........it makes a huge difference....

Guess that if you have a Walvoil dealer in US it may be cheaper to buy the third function actuator from them !

Plus, tractor dealers don't pay quarterly business taxes, property taxes, utility bills, employees wages and salaries, benefits, disability funds, maintenance, advertising, insurance and other expenses that homeowners dodge. Heck, homeowners don't even pay their children a living wage and benefits for cutting the grass, unloading the dishwasher, washing their own clothes or getting dressed. But they still complain. Wait until the dealers leave town, go bankrupt, layoff all their workers, and die off. That's criminal and the childcare society thinkers, community organizers, leaders, and protesters ought to make them pay for their sins against society. Yeah, tractors ought to be offered at Dollar Stores so that they can be easily rehomed whn the going gets tough. Make it so.

Ya know, they call that a "Third function" but it looks to me like simply a diverter valve attached directly to the loader valve. I bought a diverter valve from Ken and installed it myself. Works perfectly. It's just not mounted directly to the loader valve. I've mounted mine onto the loader arm. Much less than $1,000! Greg

That TYM setup, is not a diverter valve. It's a true third function valve that is part of the main loader valve.

You clearly see both solenoids on the picture, one for extend and the other to retract.

You are right. That's why IMHO those kind of valves are way more interesting than a simple diverter.

My mistake. Thanks for correcting me ptsg. I've never seen a third function valve, saw the solenoid and jumped to a conclusion. My bad. Anyways my diverter valve works just fine for me at a far less cost. Greg

Im with Greg i think it is way over priced for what you get if its a true 3rd function or not.

Thanks for the agreement Walter L, It looks simply like an attached diverter valve to me and sounds as if you need to press a switch to make it work; just like I do with my much cheaper valve! I cannot see much difference except the cost.
