Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 5:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High around 55F. Winds light and variable.
Looks like we picked almost half an inch of rain here while I was gone. Ground is still wet even though yesterday was a dry day. Rain coming in again tomorrow afternoon.
You all sure have been busy! Hope the big snow dump isn't so big, except for those of you that love playin' in the stuff. You can have mine!
This last trip was about 500 miles each way, about the same range as the fuel tank on the truck. But I didn't start either day with a full tank, which was just as well because fuel prices in LA are higher than at the middle-of-nowhere gas stations along the freeway. Yesterday's last stop was for 35 gallons, and I was fortunate go be at a pump where it didn't shut off half way through and require an additional purchase. That was yesterday's story; I guess they've had one too many drive offs. Another mostly smooth trip yesterday. I got to the shop early and they had me loaded and out of there by 7:15AM. Really nice place, work in full swing at 6:30 when I got there, really clean for a heavy fabrication shop, and seemed to be well organized. Owner showed off a new video he'd just made with Kathy Ireland, yeah, THAT Kathy Ireland, showing off the shop and his products. Apparently it'll get passed around to her associates, and since her modelling carrier, she's become something of an entrepreneur catering to a rather wealthy client base. Gotta love Hollywood!
Truck rode nice and smooth with almost a ton in the bed, but it sure took a while to come up to speed, and to slow down. Not much fun in LA slow'n'go traffic, and there was no way to keep enough distance in front of me because folks couldn't resist jumping into it. So I just poked along in the slow lane and was very glad when the road pitched up and the commuters disappeared in the rear view. Ran into some drizzle up in the clouds at Tejon Pass, then mostly to partly cloudy for the rest of the trip. I tend not to eat much when I'm traveling, so yesterday's breakfast was left over sweet potato fries and a dinner role, washed down with some Gatoraid. That and some cheese'n'crackers held me until dinner, where I splurged on a nice thick steak, wild rice, and a big salad. Enjoyed a camp fire, too, but it's getting cold enough in the evenings now it's hard to stay warm on the side that isn't facing the flames.

Both deliveries were waiting on me when I got home and thank goodness there were no porch pirates in the neighborhood. The propane heater was stuck into the delivery box, but it was too big to fit so the lid was left open and a couple of plastic bags were half ***** stretched over it to try to keep it dry. So the uncovered middle of the box got wet in Sunday's rain, and there was water in the parcel box, too. That was the handy work of the FedEx guy. The UPS man went him one better, leaving the chainsaw in plain sight behind the gate post, but it had only been there a few hours by the time I got home around 3.
Gonna take both tractors to get unloaded today, but with a little help, it should go just fine. And my neighbor thinks he's got a couple of buyers lined up for the old tractor, so maybe I'll get to hear a little more about that, too.
