Anyone have first hand experience with both that can provide insight of one over the other?
I'm looking to either add a front blade to my BX2670, or move up to a BX2680. Doubt I'll ever look at a snowblower, so the new front shaft coupling is of no real concern.
Lots of talk here about using the old style front QA with the 80-Series, but none using the new 80-Series on an older series, like a 70. I guess if the new 80 series fits the 70 series, it should work in retro?

Holy Smokes! 243 views and not one viewer has upgraded to an 80-Series from an older Series. Maybe the front QH isn't that popular. Sounds like I'd just go with the 80-Series anyway.

Sorry Robert, I can't help you other than to bump this thread. Good luck.

The front QH reduces the already low carrying capacity of the BX FEL.

509 lbs vs 423 lbs average load and 739 lbs vs 613 lbs at the pin, that's a 17% reduction from what I already consider bare minimum capacity.

Wrong QH. You are thinking QA on the FEL. I'm speaking of the Quick Hitch (4-point) that mounts to the frame and accepts the blade, snow blower, or sweeper. I see I did type QA in my post, but I meant QH, as noted in the title. Sorry.
BTW, I run Jerry Dunn's QA on the loader of my BX2670, so I lose minimal in weight, but the new SSQA on the 80-Series... well... that loss just plain stinks.

Hi there,

I know the SSQA was not the topic of your post but this comment caught my attention, as I'm looking into getting a BX-series. Can you expand on the portion of your comment that I bolded, above?

Thanks.

Don't know if this helps...

I had the old style front hitch on my 2 recent b’s and after watching messicks demo of the new style I can say that the new appears to be easier. There is one less shaft to hook up and less fussing to get the blower or plow lined up for connection.

Jerry Dunn’s QA for the loader weighs a fraction of the SSQA Kubota adopted for the BX. Plus, if you use forks, any of the SSQA fork setups are very heavy compared to Jerry’s forks.
With the minimal weight of Jerry’s QA on the loader, I gain that in loader or fork capacity. I have managed close to 1,000# with my forks, carefully managed, but verified with weights calculated per paving brick. An 80-series with the SSQA won’t come close from the sheer loss in capacity due to the weight of the SSQA on the loader, the weight of the forks or loader bucket with the heavy plate adapter, and then, the distance the SSQA moves the load out.
