It's position control, just piss poor position control. Easy test to see if it has the jerky hitch is to mount something (heavier the better), and slow and steady, raise the 3 point hitch... again, constant moving, lifting slowly. If it jumps up and down, you got it.

{edit} side note; dealer's response to the jerky hitch was you bought the "economical" tractor, that's the valve you get. At the time I looked up the cost of the standard L's valve and the cost of the Grand L valve - The Grand L valve was actually $5 cheaper at the time... :thumbsdown:

My 2010 L3800 is jumpy but I just deal with it somebody posted on here to change the valve to a Grand L valve and the problem went away.....

New "tier 4" diesel tractors under 25hp have looser emissions requirements than above 25. Those tractors like the L2501 can meet those requirements using old fashioned mechanical fuel injection. Most tractors above 25hp use EFI along with a DOC+DPF or DOC to capture and burn soot. Branson's figured out how to keep their mechanical injection and combine that with a DOC+DPF. They use a passive regen process which works fine as long as you work the tractor periodically. The newest ones add a manual regen feature. On mine (without manual regen) the only computer is a data logger, and the tractor runs fine with it unplugged.

That's an interesting point. The problem isn't just having a computer onboard or not. The problems start when the computer is being used to control the injection and emissions. Those are the systems that used to be mechanical back when diesels were so reliable.

I just paid a $3000 repair bill to replace the computer on our JD. Nothing was wrong with the tractor or with any mechanical system...it was a simple replace the computer. The dealer was able to diagnose it over the phone because that computer is known to fail.

He sent a guy out to undo 2 bolts, & plug it in, while I wrote a check for $3000 plus mileage. It didn't take long.

How long will it be until new models have an automatic shutdown if certain maintenance is not performed on time?
Or is that already happening?

I had a '52 8N for many years. Rebuilt the engine and it ran great. I finally got the L2501 with FEL and it has been great. I already had a 5' lowes heavy box blade and a 5' rotary cutter. I added a bush hog brand 5' finishing mower and really liked that for my front fields that are level. After leaving the finishing mower hooked to the 8N for around 5 years, I finally sold the N. I don't know if you are aware of the old 8N FEL, but it was called a "Jungle Jim". Aptly named because you had to climb over the rear of the tractor to get on the seat...lol Gymnastics.

The smaller non-dpf under 26hp 3 cyl Kubotas are, other than the lcd display, pretty much silicon free. They have been making their Super 05 series engines the for 15 or more years and still make them, which the B2650 D1305 engine is.
No "engine" computer, no dpf.
