Strange night last night...

we had a go round like that one day about 2 pm. you can see the lights of Memphis 40 miles away at night but we dont get bothered much.

neighbors husband was at work and wife was home alone when 2 dudes tried to break in. she grabs a pump 12 ga and starts yelling at them to get out as she goes to the bedroom jackin in a shell as she calls 911. she starts screaming obesities at them to get out [ that's about all they understand] anyhow it was all recorded on the 911 call. game warden on the other side of me comes screaming past and gets there and they were scared off.

husband wants a copy of the tape bad but they wont give him one. she was rather vocal about their linage and what she was about to do if they
got to the door. i guess the sound of that slide racking is understood by all.

Started to comment on that last night but thought better. All I need is a bunch of Fat Lives Matter protesters on my doorstep.
Of course they would be gone by lunch time. We are too far out for grub hub deliveries.

I've heard - several times - that the sound of a shell being brought to battery can discourage many who would do us harm. Apparently it's a sound, easily acknowledged, by those who are criminals.

For a fact - the sound of me racking a shell on my 12 gage is quite loud and can be heard all over the house.

I've had one experience with a late night "knock on the door" and no answer to the question - "Who is it?". I racked a shell in the 12 gage. It was a lost family needing directions. Probably following their GPS - ha, ha.

Otherwise - all who have come at night will knock and announce who they are. State Police, my son, neighbor, etc.

I do have 2 neighbors who feel sorry for the 登le single guy at thanksgiving and Christmas so the usually bring me a nice meal, but usually only have 1-2 slices of pie....
