I did not add the 3rd function for the FEL... I just called the dealer to get a price on adding the third function and he quoted me $1040 + labor. Didn't say how much labor as I was a little surprised by the price of the 3rd function. Does that sound about right for 3rd function on FEL?

Its a little high, but if its the OEM kit its about right IMO.
WRLong makes a good kit for $850, see: WR Long VK12 3rd Valve Function Kit For Tractor Loader | eBay
If you want to make your own, a double selector valve is $60: 6.6 GPM 12 Volt DC Double Selector Valve DFE:D | Selector Valves | Hydraulic Valves | Hydraulics | www.surpluscenter.com
Hoses are probably $50ish, quick connects are another $50-60, a handle with switch is another $130-175.

You should run a valve that's rated for at least 10% more than the flow it will see, so it's not too much of a restriction. Even though a grapple does not need much flow (and you can use small diameter hoses for it) the full system flow will always be going through the valve. So the hoses to/from it should be of sufficient size.

If your loader valve has regen for the curl, like many do, that may make a diverter based 3rd function not work correctly. You can make the diverter run off the loader raise/lower circuit or use a true 3rd function.

Thanks, good to know! I'm not sure if I'm going to get a grapple bucket or not in the future. Probably hold off and add as needed for the specific attachment. Don't need it immediately anyway.
