Rant on shipping

No rant here but a very weird delivery today. I have gotten hundreds of packages delivered to my home for both business and personal. Knock on wood... but we have never had an issue with Amazon Prime. Friday I ordered an item and it said scheduled for Sunday delivery. Okay but Monday or later would be fine with me.

We were not home when I received an email that the package was delivered. Got home and there was no package at the front door. Looked again at the email notification and saw they included a picture of the package at the door. Never seen a pic attached before but... that wasn't my door... looked hard at it thinking maybe it was a neighbor's door.

Hold on... that is my back door to our daylight basement! WTH? The delivery person would have had to walk down a gravel side driveway not even close to our front door. Why? I am really curious now what he or she was thinking. If I didn't see or recognize the photo I would have filed a complaint for a never delivered package. We sometimes go weeks if not a month using that back entry.
They started doing the pictures here as well. At least it was YOUR basement door. But yeah, what were they thinking?

We're in Florida now and they deliver a lot faster than back in rural NH. A few packages were arriving before we arrived and after the first 2 pics showing the packages at the door, the third showed all 3 packages at the front door but hidden from the road in the corner. Shows they cared about the pirating.

I think he was doing you a favor by putting it out of sight of the porch pirates. He attached a picture of a door to your house.

I have had flyers left in my front door that I didn't see for days. We have an attached garage and rarely use the front door.

UPS did not deliver last night-says tried but failed. Driver ran late, wish they would just say that. Will probably show up today. Don't know why they overload them so much that they are still going at 7pm on a Sunday.

USPS however, still does not show where the now 3 missing deliveries are in their system. One has been wandering around since Dec. 19th.

I wonder if the USPS delivery issues have to do with the location or interstate. Stuff I sent from Texas to Maryland still has not arrived 3 weeks later, stuff sent to me from Maryland is still in transit. Stuff I sent within Texas has been received. Stuff from Missouri via UPS received sooner than expected. Amazon orders seem to be delivered without a problem.

I understand porch pirates but we live on a long private driveway shared with three other homes. Additionally you cannot see our front porch unless you get just in front of our garage. Lastly, we had two vehicles parked out side so it looked like we were home. Anyways, it was weird. I went back and checked security video and it was an Amazon driver, not UPS, FEDEX, or USPS. I think that was the first time a Prime van delivered to us.

Agree that it is weird that they would go to a back door. I have a side door and a front door, both have doorbells so I could understand if it happened here. My side door has a fence gate prior to it, so I think I have only received 1 package there ever. I have seen the Prime trucks recently as well and my guess is they have a bunch of new drivers with the new last mile facility in operation (I assume it is).
