Water passing through fuel tank filter

/ Water passing through fuel tank filter #11
I keep my diesel fuel in five gallon Jerry cans. The cans are in an unheated storage shed. I ALWAYS top off the tractor fuel tank - EVERY time I use it. NO EXCEPTIONS. 39+ years out here in the sticks. Never once have I had problems with water in my diesel fuel.

Countless number of times - pour the last pint or so of diesel fuel out of the Jerry can and into a glass quart jar. Let it sit for a day. Never even once has there been a single drop of water.

Know your source - know how to handle & store your fuel.

I've used one for years, problem is the pump runs so fast it makes a mess trying to keep it from splashing out of the funnel. So I stopped using the thing. I think what I'm going to do from now on is capture the first half gallon of fuel in a clear container and check for water. Worst case is I pump a gallon of fuel in a container then pour it through the Mr Funnel. I stopped using 5 gal containers because it's a pain balancing up on the tractor platform trying to pour, it ends up all over me and then the wife won't let me in the house.

They do make different sizes. I have one that keeps up with my pump

First, you do de water paste.

I betcha 55 drum got plenty water in bottom. Problem made by bung hubs be below rim lip of drum. Rain sit on top of drum, sun expands drum, den dark shrink drum & water get sucked in.
You gonna use drum put stub nipples in bung holes proper.

Drum better not sit on ground either er you wind up doin spill remediation. Pig manure, Tide & wood chips work good fer dat.

Water easy to get out of drum. Winter now so you let water freeze, pump fuel to clean dry drum and leave ice behind. Flip barrel wid ice so water runs out when warms up & thaws.

If you never had this problem before and been using the tractor for 15 years....
and figure you have enough water in the fuel to fill the filter in 1 55 gallon barrel or maybe 2 you are getting your fuel from the wrong place.

Havnt had a water issue ever. in fact havnt seen any water in the bottom of a filter for years.

I like that stuff, great idea. The drums are covered with plastic covers that snap on, so there's never any water on top of them. I think the whole problem is condensation.

TRUST ME, plastic covers don't stop water from gettin in fuel drums. I test mine wid a week after truck fills to see if any water came from rack.
Easy enough to get out of drum if its der and better den running thru machine.

Find de problem and solve de problem easiest way.

 Wise words indeed. Efforts to prevent water getting in fuel to begin with is more effective than surfing in search of the latest gimmicks and gizmos for dealing with ongoing water in fuel. Same as Covid an ounce of prevention:talktothehand::m1helmet: is worth more than a pound of cure.:gloomy::fever::ambulance:
