I was never into ball cards or bubble gum but my older cousin gave me his set of gum cards when he outgrew them. They were WWII cards with various battle scenes. I enjoyed having them for about 40 years then sold them on eBay when I moved.

I don't know if shingles are sometimes "mild cases," but I hope so. My father said shingles were more painful than recovering from open heart surgery. Good luck.

Yeah, you know you're getting older when you can remember your first piece...of bubble gum...and it was in grade school...at the end of WWII...and it gave you a toothache. I had heard of it, but had never seen any up until that time. I think it was used in the war effort for something else...like tires...and it simply wasn't available.

Little off topic but my doctor recently told me if you are over a certain age (old) you need a shingles shot. Highly recommended.

I got shingles shot in '13, but the old style not the more recent and much better version.

I can get it as a walk-in at Rite-Aid where I got my flu shot and pick up my 'scrips.

Age has less to do with it than that some of us seniors need to catch up.

I'm at that age where my mind still thinks I'm 29, my humor suggests I'm 12, while my body mostly keeps asking if I'm sure I'm not dead yet...!
