I got shingles shot in '13, but the old style not the more recent and much better version.

I can get it as a walk-in at Rite-Aid where I got my flu shot and pick up my 'scrips.

Age has less to do with it than that some of us seniors need to catch up.

If you had chicken pocks as a kid you have the virus inside you that creates shingles. I’ve never had shingles but, like someone said earlier, my FIL had it and said it was the worst thing he ever had to endure.

That must have been before my time, although I did bring my sandwiches to school in waxed paper bags... and a "Bonanza" lunch box with matching thermos that I wish I still had.

Looking back, I never appreciated what I had because of my parent's work and sacrifices. I thought that everyone had clean, decent clothes and shoes, 3 decent meals every day, a warm roof over our heads... and both parents at home.

Talk about good things you didn’t appreciate at the time —- in grade school we walked home for lunch and my Mom made us a hot meal every day.

That's nothing. We couldn't afford tin cans and I had to eat lunch at home and bring it to school in my stomach.

I KNOW I had chicken pox the summer I was between first and second grade. And probably the only reason I remember it was because I got a toothache and the dentist came to the house and pulled that tooth; didn't want me to bring chicken pox to his office. My wife doesn't know whether she had chicken pox as a youngster or not. But we got the Zostavax version on 2/14/2012, the first dose of the Shingrix version on 7/19/2019, and the second dose of the Shingrix on 9/20/2019. I've SEEN the shingles on a neighbor and don't want to experience it myself.

I'm finally using that Aloe plant which I've been growing for years, and was just getting ready to divide and transplant. It works pretty good alleviating the shingles rash.

I remember carrying my lunch to school when I first stated school. It was usually a biscuit with either sausage, bacon, or egg depending on what we had for breakfast that morning.. And I remember carrying along a pint jar of milk. There was no refrigerator for us to put our lunches in at school, so sometimes my milk soured before lunch and as I walked home, I'd shake that jar and have a little dab of butter made by the time I got home.
