Spam calls

Most of the spam calls we get are automated, so just hang up!

My phone has a "block" button which sends calls from that number directly to the answering machine. (Yes, I still have one)
Even with that though, I still get several calls every day.

My experience with blocking the scammers is worthless. They don’t keep using the same number.

Unlike the OP, we have cell service. 99% of our calls are received via cell. I really don稚 think we have missed any!

Frank

I'm not sure what having cell has to do with it. I don't care who your carrier is, by the time I listen to all of that bullcrap I am trying to decide how important it is to leave a message.

How many legitimate calls do you also miss though? I get annoyed when I call a business and hear "Welcome to ACME Products. Thank you for your call. This is Stephanie, How may I help you?" A simple "ACME Products is sufficient, and if a company values your time they'll forgo all of the other BS.

You never read Dale Carnagee fellow.

How phone is answered sets customer mindset. Your example poor way of answering, gives caller poor expectation of getting result he called for, so sale probability is low.

Answer call" This is Acme, I'm Stephanie and I can help you" whole expectation shifts in caller's mind. Far better chance of positive outcome.

I used to get them all the time for satellite radio, I told the lady on the phone the car got repossessed and never heard back from them...

I’m not a business! This strategy works for us. I was just offering to help. 🥸

You are right, I've never heard Mr Carnegie. That must be why I'm apt to hang up before the end of their spiel unless what I'm calling about can't be addressed in another way... Like going to a competitor.
I place that in the same categorie as punching 3 buttons with a spiel between each one, vs actually talking to a real person.
