Look at them in a pure business/finance view, especially with the top leadership, and it is not strange. Happens to a lot of companies with executives that are in it for themselves.

They are very upfront about NOT having financial difficulties. It is 100% about ducking the NY AG's lawsuit which they obviously are very much afraid of.

Simply put, the NRA is the only reason that liberals have not begun gun confiscation!

Look for them to push hard with the new regime in control!

There are plenty of moderate and liberal gun owners that grew up hunting and will never give up the right to own guns.

The second amendment begins with the words A WELL REGULATED MILITIA.

There is a push to regulate assault type weapons capable of commiting mass murder. Hunting weapons and laws have limited magazine size since the beginning of time and everyone is okay with it.

I was a member for 1 year back in the 80s. It didn't take long to realize the NRAs radical views on regulations didn't align with common sense and decency.

Those conspiracy strategies really seems to resonate with some. Watched my tax guy of several decades (CPA) slowly became radicalized- started hanging self defense related posters in his office, carried at work (small rural town), bragged about overcharging certain types of people, and bet me $20 that Obama would confiscate my bank accounts before the end of that year. He put me on his like-minded email list by mistake once and the stuff those guys were revving each other up about was an art form.
