Well now that the personal attacks, name calling, gas lighting and projection has started from the usual suspect, Id guess this thread is down to its last few minutes.

The word regulated does not mean controlled by regulations but means to be drilled and practiced.....

That’s seems like a huge stretch. Words usually mean....what they mean. Do you have any source that says regulated has ever meant drilled and practice?

I agree that the 2A was intended for a government that envisioned reserve militias instead of a huge standing Amy that consumes 1 trillion dollars a year.

Will LaPierre be able to spend $300,000 on suits in Texas? Might have to take the Lear jet back to Beverly Hill tailors?

I'm with you, I have a right to bear arms, I wish that right was good in all 50 states, but it is not.

Ever think dat is a clear violation of de Full Faith & Credit clause of de Constitution?

Don't matter what State issues yer driving license, you legal driving in all 50 states. Why dat not de same for gun licenses?
Don't recall ever hearing of NRA bringing dat case up.

WHY NRA was a NY Corporation to begin wid is a better question. NY has never been gun friendly since Sullivan Law came to be.
Should have started packing for move out back when NYS kicked dem in nuts over insurance operation dey were running. Maybe LaPeehole favorite restaurant in NY. Now wid restaurants closed he moving NRA to State Income Tax so he not making Emperor richer.

Never trust a man who wraps himself in flag and den dines wid ******.

The word regulated does not mean controlled by regulations but means to be drilled and practiced.

The NRA was formed by ex Union army officers after the US Civil War to promote marksmanship among the population, i.e., having a regulated militia. Why did these ex officers see the need? Because during the war, the average man who served had little marksmanship skills and these officers wanted to promote the skills in time of peace so when war happened again, they would have at least some men who could accurately fire weapons.

The Regular Army, until after WWII, was very small by any standard and was completely dependent on mass mobilization. This mass mobilization meant using state militias are forming all new military units. This happened in all of our wars up to WWI. One can make a good argument it happened in WWI, WWII and even today, based on the current force structure at the state and Federal level.

Yep, and if a person reads a bit of history it seems it wasn't until passage of the National Firearms Act in the 1930's that real obstacles for private individuals to own weapons that exceeded those purchased by the military started to be put in place. Prior to that there were several notable instances of private individuals purchasing large numbers of firearms and donating them to the US Government because the procurement process was insufficient/politically driven.

Private citizens were buying breach-loading rifles, revolvers, lever-action rifles, and even the original Gatling guns before the US government ever did - or started to issue them as a standard issue weapons. Odds are the Hughes Amendment has stifled a lot of innovation in the way of small arms as private citizens can no longer buy new automatic/select fire weapons ...which means the market for such things doesn't exactly support development by small innovators, and for large corporations there's not a lot of incentive to innovate when the possible buyers are basically limited to governments (most of which aren't inclined to buy things that aren't already reliable or mass produced).

....just my :2cents:
