Some where, in the deep recesses of my chest of drawers, is a Girl Scout pocket knife. I didn't even know they made them!

Those vintage knives that were blue with a bear head on them that some of you might be reffering to commonly sold by Sears n Roebuck , were made by Camilluos .
I had one as a cub scout . Not the knifes but the bear symbol of the cub scouts years ago was called "Akela" . Dont know if it still is ?

I still have both of my Cub Scout knives.

I'd carry it on my belt to school. The nuns would occasionally ask to borrow it to cut something or punch a hole in leather, etc... it was just normal. I was the only kid in my class in scouting and I was the only one carrying a knife that I can remember, all the way until my last two years in high school. And those weren't Cub Scout knives.

Any school official observing a child carrying a knife of any type would have a coronary nowadays. I carried a knife all thru school. Every male child did, and some of the females. Things were different then. And a heck of a lot better if someone asked me. But of course no one did.

I "Every Day Carry" (EDC) 2 knives legal in Montana:

First a Viper Tec Ghost OTF (out the front) dual action automatic knife with a 3.5" double edge blade and a glass breaker pommel, pocket carried with a pocket clip;

Second an automatic Boker with a 3.25" Tanto blade that the knife clip is used to hold my folding money secure in my pocket.

What ever anyone decides to carry everyday, I believe one of the best options is a very sharp knife with some type of battle tested glass breaker...

Yep... Every guy in my high school carried a Buck or a Schrade knife on his belt... and a pack of chewing tobacco or Skoal in his back pocket... Gee whiz... the good old days.... :confused3:

I had a Buck 110 pocket knife for many years back in the 60-70's & 80's and one day I broke the springy thing that holds the blade open. My wife and I where at the NRA convention when it was held in Philadelphia back in the 80's and we stopped at the Buck Knives booth. While there I pulled this knife out and asked the man if Buck could fix it for me as it had sentimental value. The representative said no to my request but handed me a new one in the box and said: My name is Chuck Buck and thanked me for being a customer of theirs. Still have it. Bob

k0ua we brought our 22's to grade school so we could go get dinner after school, I'll say times have changed.

I hear you James. I carried one all thru school as well. I can remember on several occasions a teacher asking to borrow my knife. A pocket knife to me is the same as a screwdriver or wrench. It is a tool. I guess in a desperate enough situation I would use it as a weapon.
