Real or Scam... Economic Impact Payment Card?

So you pay into the unemployment and because of your pride you wont sign up when its your time? Its the only way you get it back.

During mandatory shelter in place last year my daily hours were cut from 8 to 5 as most of my fellow employees... with some opting to furlough and did not come in for 10 weeks.

As I had my hours cut I was eligible for several packages which it took some of my co-workers days on the phone to reach California Unemployment... etc...

The level of frustration was huge and literally consumed them with several hacked and still don't have all the money! Huge scandal with Bank America and California.

I made the decision to work my 5 and use 3 vacation hours each day...

Call me dumb or slow but grateful to have a job directly related to helping with Covid... plus my PTO has been maxed for some time and is already maxed again being hourly.

Cashing out PTO is very limited and when approved employer charges 6% penalty!

So what I have done is donate hours to co-workers that were burned out in California fires just thankful I have my home intact.

Off topic but my Step-Grandfather immigrated after WW1 from Germany with nothing.

He was selfmade...first in his Tool and Die shop each morning and last to leave each night well into his 80's...

He refused all Social Security saying everything he achieved he owed to the great country of the United States... so I had the privilege of knowing one such man.

Nothing! I waited 29 days on a $3,400 check sent from 10 miles across town.

I know it's not Canada (Strong Postal Union). An Ex GFs mother worked for Canada Post. She was told where to go when suggesting others stop their card game and do some work.

No card for me. Mine was deposited directly to one of my checking accounts. The one I use for IRS transactions. Or used to. It was deposited during the first week of January.

In the first round, the IRS deposited our payment directly to the checking account tied to our return. This time my wife got the Debit Card but I didnt. I checked the IRS Get My Payment site and they state they dont have enough information on me to issue. Go figure.

My 94 yo Mom got a debit card last week I thought was a scam, so I told her and her c as caregiver take by Mom's bank.
They did and on the card was $567?!?
Never understood that weird amount but it was first money Mom ever got from Gov't.

Yup..... I always thought the US postal system was poor, until I experienced 13 Summers of Canada Poste

I just took a look at my SS online. I have been paying in to SS since I was 15; some add ons from employer's till 23 when I went self employed. I have never received an unemployment check, disability check, food stamps or free lunches for the kids. My full retirement age is 68, six years from now, and should get right around 3K per month. Given I like my job and probably never will quit completely, I guess I will get to keep paying SS till I die. Then wifey will get the rest for having put up with me all these years...

What gets me are all the people we know who worked, paid into SS for over 40 years, retire then die. Some maybe get one check.
