Ekornes Stressless.....made in Norway, and widely marketed throughout the USA, they are a bit pricey, but really worth it!
Not the big bulky type though.

I think overall these are good recliners. We bought 3 in 2004. 1 remains. 1 gifted to a grandson for gaming chair. That one got a small cut at the head, but the rest of the leather looked good. Mine the seat got worn from me not being smart enough with what I wore / had in my pockets. I could have had the bottom redone, but by then I wanted something more traditional. They don't swivel well but we had the little side / laptop tables that mostly made up for it. 7 years ago I went and replaced that one with a Macy's recliner that my but rests in nice. Supposedly designed by a chiropractor. My wife thought to drum up business, but comfortable enough for me. I saw an ad for another type of stress less type one day. Those started ~ 3500$

I bought a fancy European leather chair with wooden frame. Paid over two grand. Wood simply cracked. I can't find anyone to repair it and don't really trust anyone to do the job right. Now it takes up a good part of my living room and it's just for the cats!

Anyone know anything about Franklin recliners, good, bad or ugly ?? Every furniture store that I contacted yesterday(8 to be exact ) told me if want to special order a recliner it is a 5 month waiting period to be made. How nuts is that ??

I am currently sitting in a 25 year old leather Franklin recliner. I think it still looks good although my wife disagrees. I assume they are still made in Mississippi like a lot of other furniture.

I ordered a hand made (in North Carolina) tufted leather sofa a while back. I do not recall it taking 5 months, but I did reject it upon the first delivery (shipping damage in their own truck) and it made a return trip to NC and then back. So it might have been 5 months in the end.

Sales people explained too me as the Covid 19 effect and no workers the reason for the 5 month wait time.

Yep, furniture like many other things is back ordered for months. A family member ordered a couch and recliner in October which is supposed to arrive at the end of February.

Not sure if it really qualifies but I have an IKEA chair that I like.

We bought three leather recliners and a couch from IKEA five or so years ago. They are working just fine. I think they had a 10 year warranty, for whatever that is worth, but other furniture had no warranty or maybe 30-90 days.

The IKEA stuff was much cheaper than the furniture from stores, so we could afford to replace it if we had too. We have not had too.

Later,
Dan

I was once walking past an Office Furniture place that had some office chairs out front on sale. Then I went to the very back of the store where they had their high end chairs. I wanted nothing to do with the chairs out front after that, but didn't feel like spending thousands either. So bought neither.

In the case of the recliner, I did go for high end, and was disapointed when it broke. Wood seems to be a really lousy structural material when employed in typical scandanavian minimilist fashion.

Actually I have another Teak chair in my living room, where I lost my balance and fell against the frame/leg, crippling that chair possibly permanently as well. Sitting upside down, makes a nice cave for the cats though.

My wife and I have been to IKEA once. We were walking around looking and got ready to leave and we realized we had to either retrace our steps or keeping following the path to get out. We both decided once was enough.
