New water well

House built around 1730...very few residential dwellings still around from back then. Everyone wants to tear down and build new.

Do you ever find things (treasures) on your land from that long ago?

Apologies to Mr. Steppenwolf for the meander on his thread! But 1730!!! Wow!

I have not found anything of significance, but at what was obviously once an Indian campsite about 300 yards away, many artifacts were discovered in the 50's.
This house was apparently moved 1,000+ feet (rollers and oxen?) to it's present site, somewhat farther back from it's original location, which was down by the water.

Well guys were back today to grout the casing, run the water line to the house and shop, ran the electric as well. Should have water Friday.

Nice place Step - what size pipe and pump and holding tanks are you installing? 1.5 or 2HP? Size depends on where the static water level is when pumping.

Sounds a lot like our new well in 97 - went down through granite from 10' on to 420' 1-2 GPM so had it hydro fracked (another $2K then) and got 10-12 GPM with water level at 90' with a 10GPM 1.5HP goulds pump @ 375'.

We went a total of 610 ft. Well head is at 35ft, and pump set at 585 ft. With a 6inch casing this gives us about 800 gallons reserve at 3gpm replenish rate. More than adequate for a 4 bedroom/bath home. We put in a 30 amp 2 pole breaker for a new 220 volt Grundfos pump. I ran a line to a yard hydrant near the shop (250ft away) and a T to the house (about 100ft). Also put in a yard hydrant 6 ft from the well head for future use. All water lines are 1 inch blue poly. The entire process ran right at 12K finished including electric.

How long does it take them to drill through 410' of granite?
Here they went 760' and 4" casing to 460'. Mostly sand and clay took about 12 hours of actual drilling.
