Didn't know buying a truck was so hard

thanks. Just wish I had more faith in Stellantis.

I have no idea what that means. But I had a 2015 Ram 1500 for 5 years and 40K miles, which I sold to my son who has had zero problems, like me. Now I have owned a '20 Ran 1500 for a bit over a year and a bit short of 9k miles and not a single problem either. As a student of statistics I realize that those numbers don't mean anything, To the average Joe Consumer. Means quite a bit to me, I mean, if I had broken down 20 times in the last 6 years, was stranded on the side of the road for an average of just 3 hours per, that's nothing against my fee, IF I GET IT.

Dodge Ram which used to be FCA is now Stellantis, a new conglomerate merging FCA with Peugeot and Opel.
Just another foreign owner of this good truck

under warranty, my 2015 1500 Lariat Ram dealer replaced several of my roller tappets due to inadequate lubrication and "hemi tick".
Pervasive problem, I personally will not buy another hemi engine with variable valve timing whereas the Cummins
should be almost unbreakable.

Unfortunately the frequency of repair for large trucks is poor. Just look at the JD Powers ratings.
You would think modern trucks should be simpler than cars but clearly they aren't, all the car gizmos and electronics now demanded in
high line trucks.

I used to own a VW TDI Golf and had the dealer repeatedly look me in the eye and lie, lie, lie. This had to do with ice ingestion through air intake
due to bad design of a plastic part allowing water to condense and settle, and then get sucked in all at once which few engines like at all.
They finally recalled the car but I had totally lost faith in VW. They acted dishonestly time after time and showed me their corporation does not have honor.
That is important to me. I had such a good experience with Subaru I know it doesn't have to be a bad experience.

I simply have no idea how Stellantis will treat their customers; all their sales have been overseas, not here.

Had my RAM for about a year now, probably the best year I’m going to have. Nothing but one TPMS sensor failure, replaced under warranty

The manly men were pretty stupid, too.
Hauling drywall in the rain qualifies for the Darwin Award.

Around here, if you wait for it to stop raining, you will go out of business. Ive had lots of pick ups, I'm just amazed how practical this mini van is.

I've owned several Chrysler minivans, including a navy blue one a long time ago with all wheel drive. It was marvelous in the winter
and hauled kids off to soccer games and elsewhere in the worst of weather. 4 snow tires and awd meant I was going to get home.

Seating position was elevated, though not like a truck, and you could see out of it really well.
If you want to see a very, very nice new minivan, check out the brand new Kia Carnival
222 Kia Carnival Is Actually the Redesigned Sedona Minivan With a New Name
with the seats folded down, huge amount of covered space back there and with sliding side door, another access point for big
stuff from Home Depot.

For me the problem is the dirty stuff. The bags of compost and fertilizer, the bales of hay. That stuff really belongs in a pickup bed.

Ford has done very well with their commercial minivan, see them everywhere with their distinctive grill.

All about whether you need to tow or not. No sense overbuying capability when you don't need it,
and have a worse ride and worse economy than the task requires.
And after you have all of that figured out, in my case usually before I go in the door, I'll try to get an experienced truck guy.

I usually ask the sales manager to recommend their most senior truck guy. Doesn't always work.

Gotcha. Didn’t know you were in a rainforest-like climate. Maybe more of the manly men need to buy caps or cube trucks or vans? I know what you mean about mini vans. I had one when the kids were small. I have a Tahoe now and I can remove rear seats an fit sheet goods in it when necessary

Well I for one enjoy my "girly" truck.
My 2015 RAM with the eco diesel engine is just a bit past 91,000 miles.
It's a loaded up Big Horn and Iam now getting started on the thought of it's time to trade.
So I have been looking and pricing and building a RAM Laramie trim and a Chevy LTZ both so called 1/2 tons.
They both have high tow ratings and low gvw ratings, both have very nice interiors and ride.
About 6 times a year I would rather have a 3/4 or 1 ton but the little half ton has done the job quite well.
She has towed 8000#s of coal every year usually twice on a trailer thats over 4000# dry, she can and has
pulled that trailer with a skid steer and a mini excavator and a JD 4020 once.
Do I have to be carefull with how I load the trailer, yep, do I just jump in and run at 60+ heck no.
But 50-55 on the main roads is just fine as we aren't going hundreds of miles.
If needed the farm trucks are all 3/4 ton and one brother has his 3/4 Cummins and nice gooseneck.
But yep a nice riding half ton works great for me 90% of the time,
just the other day did a run up to a slaughter house loaded two halfs of boxed beef closed down
the tri-fold tonneau cover and it's just like a big cooler even in the summer nothing has even started to thaw on us.

Lou, how was that VM Italian diesel? My close friend has a Jeep Liberty with one at 145k miles.
His Liberty is slow, as expected, how was your truck? Were you lusting after 800 foot pounds of torque?....

One more truck Lou. One more truck and then you'll be plugging in. With neck snapping power it appears
if the first electric trucks specs are to be believed.

Yeah I figure this is my last diesel truck, too. I bet electric trucks will be a big hit. Wonder where all the power plants to charge them will be built?
