Flashlight recommendations?

We have had more power outages this last 6 months, than in the last 5 years.
Luckily, I have a light adapter for my Milwaukee 18V batteries,, The 5.0 battery will outlast any power outage,
then simply recharge.

About a month ago,, Home Depot had some Milwaukee 18V lights on sale at a pretty good price reduction,,
I bought two of them.

So, now, I have four of the Milwaukee 18V lights.


If I want internet,, and desk lamps for light, I hook up the Harbor freight square wave adapter.

It literally runs all of our needs for up to 3 hours,, lights, computers, router, DSL box,,
and no need to worry about the generator.

A couple 9W lamps, the house looks like the power is on,,, ,
I have used both of the new Milwaukee lights extensively,, I hate to say it, but they are better than a MAG Light,,

Can anyone comment on replacement LED bulbs for D cell maglite flashlights? Remember when the Krypton bulb was KING?

Back when they first became available someone told me the zoom didn't work with the conversion bulbs. I haven't tried them myself because my big maglight got ruined by leaking batteries.

Zoom works with the LED bulbs....

I love my streamlights. I have a super tac X, it can be rail mounted, but mostly used when we hear a bump in the night. A tlr1 for handgun mounts. And a couple of pt2l for everything else. They are very good lights.

The last two packs of alkaline batteries that I owned were returned to Sams Club for refund (the batteries were leaking in the package,, never used)

I am reasonably positive I have replaced and/or disposed of ALL alkaline batteries in my home.

For me, rechargeable,, or nothing.

I HAVE gotten in the habit of removing batteries from anything that doesn't get regular use. I need to revisit rechargables for regular cell batteries. Gave up back in the NiCad days due to short life.

Last summer I picked up the Ryobi 18v light. Wasn't necessarily planning to, but HD had a sale where if you bought a select tool you got a 2 pack of batteries free (or the other way around). Didn't find out about it until the last day, and the tools had been pretty well picked over so I grabbed the light. Wow, that sucka is bright!!! Used it a lot more than I thought I would. Have a bunch of other of their 18v tools, so it made sense to standardize.
I've also got a couple LED lanterns we use when the power goes out...they weren't terribly expensive and seem to work well. Got a bunch of the HF blue flashlights around the house/vehicles too.

I've used headlamps in the past...they're OK if you're going for a walk or maybe reading, but otherwise are kind of annoying in that you have to keep your head very still or the light is everywhere but where you want it.

I've had nothing but bad luck with rechargeable AAs, regardless of brand. They go flat quickly and only seem to last for maybe a dozen charge cycles. I'm done with them.

Generally the light points where I am looking, so having it move isn't that big of a deal. The lights on my last tractor didn't work so for the last few years of ownership I plowed using my headlamp for light. \
Contrast that to coming off from a beaver house after dark carrying a chisel, chain saw, packbasket, supplies and a few extra traps. To take a compass bearing you need to put the chisel down, balance the saw on your shoulder, take out the compass, get a bearing, put it away, pick the chisel back up, then try to pick out the tree you just sighted the compass on.
