Thanks for the heads up on the Diablo cutoff discs, RS. I did some poking around on Amazon this morning and found [URL="https://smile.amazon.com/x-045-Quality-CutOff-Wheel-Stainless/dp/B015VOMD4K/]these[/URL] for less money with better reviews, so I'll let you know how they are after I have a chance to try them out. They're also 5" in diameter so just from that they should last longer, and I'll be able to get a shallower angle that will work better when cutting the fillet welds. Using the HF Warrior brand yesterday it took 5 discs to disassemble one shipping pallet. That's twice the rate I got with the HV blue lable discs I had before. But at least I didn't get any blow ups with the Warriors like I did with the HF reds.

I've used the 7" discs on this angle grinder before, too, and it really gave me the creeps. The blade comes really close to the trigger, and I don't think even a heavy glove would slow 'em down much. That was back when I was cutting up the FEL on the old tractor, and the only way to get it done was to use the larger disc. That was a face mask and safety glasses job for sure.

I took one of my propane heaters over to my neighbors whose water system was frozen up in his pump house this morning. Unfortunately most of the piping was already broken. We got everything disconnected from the pressure tank and used the propane heater to thaw it out. Then we removed all the rest of the piping from the well and the underground line to his house.

His SIL is a plumber and was coming over to rebuild everything with new pipe, fittings, filters, etc. I suggested he get some heat tracing to go around all the piping then foam insulation over that.

He should have water this afternoon.

I suggested they do similar at my wifes work. They had a water line bust in the attic. According to her boss, this has happened before.

I suggested heat tape and foam insulation to prevent it from breaking in the future.

I'm usually not one to champion a product like this, but those of you dealing with power outages may find Luci lLghts very handy once it gets dark. I've been using them for years on camping trips, and used the heck out of them during the past two years when the local utility turned the power off. The "snow blowing" as it were is done ... there really wasn't enough to even bother bother with ... but for the ice.

Crusted on top, then snow, then another layer of ice ... and then snow below that ... so it was really more like ice blowing ... and it worked surprisingly well ... even on the big pile the city road crew left. Got it cleaned up enough that getting in and out should not be an issue.

The shear bolt on the auger was missing, had to replace that before I could get started ...

Woman was going to go out to pick up a 'script (and ingredients) but decided she didn't want to mess with it and was greatly preoccupied with a recipe for the bird anyways. Having settled on one, we managed to get it prepped and into the oven ... be interesting to see how it turns out.

Dinner will probably be around 19:30

Still need to pick up some Cointreau and orange marmalade for the next one ... but it will probably take a while to recover from this current one ... :laughing:

Now to get those feeders filled.
