My whole life, I watched disaster mostly befall far away third world places. But TEXAS! Rich, wealthy, larger than life TEXAS.

Preparedness? Can it possibly be true that even Cruz didn't have a back up generator? I always said. I would have emergency resources long before I had luxury items.

Although I’m not prepared for a long term outage either. I have 2 generators, but not fuel for a week, although I could siphon the vehicles. Gas stations were out of gas due to no deliveries. I try to keep enough food for a week or two. I haven’t had a power outage over 12 hrs in the last 30 yrs.

Having been thru a 2week + outage, i have enough fuel for of judicious use. Pump the well up, dump the septic, power the freezer/fridge every few hours or so. Charging phones, batteries. Some entertainment. Have woodstove.
