The point I'm trying to make is that all of the systems in Texas failed. Gas, oil, coal, nuclear, solar, wind. All of them. Yet several people keep coming back saying solar and wind failed, yet won't acknowledge that everything else failed as well. Since it's all within Texas, and they are for the most part on a grid by themselves, strictly to avoid being federally regulated, should they then ask for federal help with it when it fails? Yes, they should ask for disaster relief after natural disasters like hurricanes and cold snaps. And it should be given. However, it's time they come in line with everyone else and get on the grid so that we can help them and they can help us in these types of situations.

And .. we'll do fine w/o the "advice" from yankee, liberal, know it alls ...

If tornados wiped out half of Indiana .. you'd be begging for federal help.

Is your house "tornado proofed"?.

But wind and solar failed much worse, colossally in fact. They were at 2%. Nuclear was still providing a lot of power.
This is all because of lack of preparation for extreme cold weather. Turning into a windmill v fossil fuels debate? Everyone knows fossil fuels win every time.

Yes, you made your point. The fact everyone is not realizing is Wind power will fail in the winter in Texas because there are no winds to turn the blades. Even if they are winterized. Wind power CAN NOT be relied on in Texas in the Winter.

My neighbor just installed solar and has not got her backup battery. She had no power either, when she needed it most. The problem with solar is when you don't have grid power, all the solar system will provide is battery power. The panels will not power your house directly. This is one of the reasons I didn't (and won't) get solar after getting 3 quotes after my neighbor got her's installed.

Yes, gas froze everywhere in the supply line and was in short supply. The nuclear plant kicked off a unit because of a frozen water "something". That shouldn't have happened, as her sister unit didn't shut down.

Which brings us to coal. I have not heard of a coal fired plant loosing power.

As to ................However, it's time they come in line with everyone else and get on the grid so that we can help them and they can help us in these types of situations. I say no thanks.

I gather Y'all won't let us Texans complain about wind and solar, so maybe we can be left alone to complain about getting .3 inch of rain when we need 3 inches of rain. Y'all wanna talk about rain?
