Naw. Tinker Field is still open and going strong. IIRC, it's the largest employer in the state, except maybe for the state itself.

Thanks for showing me that I should have stated which base I meant. I went back and took care of that.. When you said sonic booms had been outlawed I decided that must have been the reason we quit hearing them rather than our base closing.

Gotcha. Being centrally located, and relatively flat land, we seem to have our share of air bases. I recall the "booms" being frequent and very irritating.

It must have been in '91 ot '92 when we drove through Oklahoma on the way to the Grand Canyon. Someone there had the prettiest, lushest corn fields I saw on the whole trip.
